while there are several threads going where some people are complaining about Hot Rod going quarterly. This thread is about the on topic content in the current issue, just as I have done most every month for a while now. On the cover is a bitchin hammered model 40 coupe Then there is a 2 page article on Ohio George Montgomery Then 8 pages on the 75th Bonneville event An 8 page article on how to tell if a hot rod is traditional Then a 6 page how to article on how to add an engine turned insert to your dashboard And a 5 page article on the start of a new project, a 1965 Dodge coronet. And what kind of engine are they using? How about a big block mopar with a crossram and a pair of AFB’s
Good stuff. Thank You Mark. I've had to direct my funds to Co-pays. When I was in school I studied the writings of Don Francisco to learn And understand the wotkings of the V8 internal combustion 4 stroke motor.
Not to take away from the topic. My brother once applied there at Georges before he took a job with T.K Performance. Nice to see they did a segment for him. They had a nice write up locally awhile back. Archdeacon: “Ohio George” – a Miami Valley sports legend – is celebrated, not forgotten (daytondailynews.com)
take a look at my past threads for on topic content, there is something for us every issue, I can't wait for the new better quarterly book to come out https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/december-23-hot-rod-magazine.1302812/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/hot-rod-magazine-11-2023.1300988/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/hot-rod-magazine-oct-2023.1298462/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/hot-rod-magazine-9-23.1296663/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...tent-in-this-months-hot-rod-magazine.1298477/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/hot-rod-magazine-11-2023.1300988/#post-14983992 https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/hot-rod-magazine-75th-anniversary-issue.1279215
I thought the same thing as TerrytheK. I have to believe that magazines like Hot Rod are not drawing a lot of new readers. People these days do everything on their cell phones, even while driving.
I'm glad to see an actual "how to" with the dash. A lot of today's "how to's" are how to plug in computer harnesses and run the wiring thru the firewall and battery connections. I prefer books when working, I can open a page while performing the operation without the page going black every 30 seconds and having to touch the screen with dirty and/or greasy fingers to lite the screen again so i can move on to the next stage.... .
I thoroughly enjoyed Tim Bernsau's article "Is your hot rod traditional? says who?" Lots of interesting details. Being the last of the 12 month mags by Hot Rod I had to go pick up a copy and I dont regret it!
