Did any of you guys see "My Cl***ic Car" last weekend with Leno's V12 Packard highboy? Craziest thing I ever seen! Engine is a air cooled '53 Packard out of a TANK! 1800 cubes, 990 hp and 1600 lbs of TORQUE!!! Have a look! Read the whole story on this thing. http://www.mycl***iccar.com/MCCTV/2004Season/9001/jayleno.html I ain't doing a Hollywood endorsment but this thing is DAMN cool.
if there is a hell, it would be an eternity spent listening to that mustached jack*** describe anything. I love that car though.
I think so (as in I don't know for sure) but it was only a show car, don't know it was ever road worthy. Wayfarer,I may make it down to your neighborhood in the next few weeks. Feel like playing tour guide for a day? And, yeah, that Dennis Gage guy is a CLOWN.
The car was here for our local ISCA show. Flatland, do you know when you'll make it down? Not much car stuff going on right now, but we do have a show the end of march.
You know, That car is pretty cool. Friggin HUGE, but unique and cool in it's own way. On the other hand, I've been wanting to cut that guy mustache off ever since I saw it the first time. I hate that thing. It is terrible.

[/ QUOTE ] Not too sure as of yet. I'll be in the new house on Saturday and have a week or so to kill before the furniture shows up. Figured we could exploring for hidden tin stashes if you're into that. Never been to Spokane for more than an hour before. I'll send my new number when I get it!
Yes, that is the same car that was the "Blast-o-Lene Special" and you really need to see it in person to appreciate how freaking huge it is - those wheels are semi-truck size. I'd like to hate Leno for being so stinkin rich, BUT at least he's spending it on the same kinda stuff I'd blow my wad on... if I had a wad.
I couldn't believe how huge all of the suspension link bars and the steering is. That car (if you can call it that) has to weigh 10,000 lbs. It reminded me of that roadster that guy built out of an old firetruck.
Leno is more of an enthusiast than any of us could ever imagine. He lives breaths and eats gasoline and oil. Regardless of how much money the guy has to blow, he picks the right projects, and won't hesitate to pick up a wrench or help you on the side of a road. I know, he stopped to help me in the 61 stuck off mullholland. I've been waiting for some show or magazine feature to do a do***entary on his whole collection. Evel? It wouldn't be mad fabricator content, but it sure would make for some interesting footage. Send him a Mad Fab DVD. -Dane
A full article on Jay Leno's collection is a GREAT idea. I don't watch the Tonight Show, but really get the impression that Leno is a nice guy and one hell of a car and motorcycle guy. We get glipses of all of the cool things he owns, but a report on the WHOLE collection would be really neat. I know that he has several warehouses full of stuff.
Saw Jay in San Luis Obispo a few months ago. After the show he jumped into a Model A stretch limo for his ride to the airport. As he was climbing into the back seat some lady asked him. "How many cars do you have?" Jay's response "You sound like my wife." As he closed the door and drove away. The limo wasn't his, it's from a local limo company.
on another episode? of the same show Mr Mustache gets a ride in Leno's Hispano Suiza, another bigger then life factory hot rod with a world war one aircraft engine. doesn't he also have one of those V8 60 powered bikes?.. ..he does have some pretty cool toys, it would be fun to see all of them. Paul
Now that gives a whole new definition to BIG ROD!....AS to Dennis' ****ty lookin gay mouuuustashhhe....think of how his wife ORRRRRR....significant other endures such horrible exposure to that damned weedpatch.

I just picked up a book, "Ultimate Garages", that has a bunch of pics of Leno's garages (hangars, really) and cars. It's about $25 at Amazon...
[ QUOTE ] I'm still pissed Mr. Leno didn't put a NAilhead in his '55 Buick. Pansy... [/ QUOTE ] i agree,he coulda gone with a 425 and still had lotsa h.p.
at the risk of revealing I watch TV, the latest installment of 'American Chopper ***emblers' features the attempt by the Family O' Dysfunction of building a chopper based on the Holiest of Holies, a Brough Superior, per Leno's request. watching Paulie's brain freezing up at the task was heartwarming. it seems if the bike isn't going to be based on a calliope or sports team or a canceled piece of military hardware, our boy has nothing to work from. I was giggling like a little girl at the prospect of their trying to build a bike based on a bike. must-see TV.
One of the guys on the Nailhead list even went as far as to mail him that he would build him a 425 for that '55. Hasn't heard back, probably won't. And the American Chopper thing was very funny....
[ QUOTE ] a Brough Superior... [/ QUOTE ] I could just see it when he couldn't buy any catalog parts to fit. "Hey Vinnie, how come our usual ***ortment of Billet Circus Wagon parts won't fit this POS ?" UPS must love these ****ing guys.

Uh, um, yeah,....I proved the link and saw the show. Go back to the top. That was my responce to Wayfarer asking about it BEFORE Leno got his cash stained mitts on it.
I was lucky enough to visit his toy shop a decade ago as a photo ***istant. Believe me, Leno doesn't own show ponies. We got there before him to set up and the first thing he said when he drove up was, "Who owns the 60 Olds?" The clients stood there giving me the stink eye for about ten minutes while he looked it over. Say what you will about him otherwise, but he's a car guy. I was actually more impressed with his bike collection than his cars. I think he has one of everything. I don't know enough about bikes to name any but there was this Italian racing jobby that had a radial engine for a front wheel. The axle was the crank. They pushed it off a stand on the green flag, WFO. It even had a floorboard like a scooter. krazy. He gave the guided tour before the shoot, there are some great stories under that roof..
