Obviously there are extenuating cir***stances...has it happened to you a lot...or once...???

People get busy...they simply don't sit and wait for you to send them a PM...

  4. I would say that once you put something up for sale, you should legally bound to sell it to somebody on the HAMB, no changing your mind bucko, not here!

Not even somebody local wants it and they are your friend and they need it.

    **** them!

Maybe someone sent a PM before you did,and the piece is sold.

  7. I like 'em- They make me feel good about myself

  8. I sell parts here, and I do try to get back to everyone.
I do forget sometimes, and I might not reply if I already marked something SOLD in my ad, and 2 days later (or a year later) I get a PM to buy it.
Also, some guys in particular lowball all the cars I put up, or want to trade something. These guys in particular do not get a response.

That's just the way it is..

What frustrates the **** out of me, is the noobers posting a wanted ad, and I respond (as per the rules) by PM..I would say at least 90% do not respond back, and some bump the ad over and over..
They are not refusing my price, because I don't give one right away, I want to make contact first.
They just do not know how the board works. The little annoying flashy thing means something people!!

Maybe (if you don't do it already) make them respond to a PM as part of the sign up.. I think I got a "welcome" PM.. Maybe not.

I Think About The Same About Jerks That Tell You They Have Put The Money Order In The Mail To Buy Something I Have For Sale On This Site , Only To Call Back A Week Later To Say They Don't Have The Money To Send , After They Have Said It Has Been Sent , The Jerks Are The Deadbeat That Want What They Can't Afford.

I think sometimes people get overwhelmed by the response their ads draw on the HAMB. I know one time I put about 10 items in one ad and were bombarded with PMs, like 65 in one night! I usually repond to the first three people who show an interest in an item in case something falls thru with buyer one or two. I also try to mark things as sold in the ad as soon as I have the money. I'll be the first to admit I don't respond to all interested parties.

As for selling things locally, why not? It is a heck of a lot easier to have someone hand you the cash and walk away with the product than worry about paypal, money orders, packing and shipping. Plus I normally don't put things on the HAMB that anyone local would have an interest in. However I do plan to do a big HAMB for sale cl***ified after an upcoming local swapmeet with what I don't sell.

So I guess in response to your question, I'm guessing the guy sold the item locally you were interested in and chose simply to delete the post rather than mark as sold. I know how frustrating it is, I had the same thing happen to me last summer on here with a coupe I was really interested in.

I have just started putting stuff for sale here. I have dealt with great people so far.
I send stuff overseas to people here I won't do that on eBay.
I am very happy and I hope the people who have dealt with me feel the same way.

I put lots of stuff up for sale this week. first time ever, anywhere. Whoa!
Started getting offers in 2 minutes. 10 guys wanting the same piece.
I was ready to deal with the big stuff, deliver to the roundup - relay - etc. It's the little stuff that drives you nuts. Boxing, measuring, weighing, figuring costs to a certain zip code. Plus I'm old and my memory ****s. "Did I respond to that question about size" "Did I get back to him on shipping costs" "Did I tell him it's already spoken for"

I came on here to find out how to retrieve my "sent" messages, to be sure I didn't blow someone off unintentionally. Any help with that?
If not, I may become one of those "jerks" .

Enloe is one of the first guys I bought anything from on here.. great to deal with.

    back on topic....

To me it doesn't make sense to post up stuff for sale and not reply. I might not reply that same day I'm sent a PM but I will reply.

5 minutes to edit a post that says what's sold etc.. would do wonders.

    That's my rant for today.

On my signature line I post that I'm looking for carbs.I get a PM telling me they have one for $100.00 plus shipping. but they don't have time to mess with this forum,I should email him.Ok,I send an email requesting postage charge to my zip code.Nothing.I send back that they are wasting my time not the other way around. He sends me back whats my problem,$100.00 plus postage. One more time, whats postage?I don't want to buy anything from this guy,he can't seem to get his head out of his ***.
We try to buy truck doors out of c***ifieds, different person same run around. Both of these guys list Austin as home base.Something in the water down there?

If they tell you they are too busy for this site and want to do it all through email they are most likely up to something.

They don't want to handle it here because A LOT of people think we know your p***words and can see your Private messages. Neither is true.

Austin huh? PM me who they are.

As far as keeping a list of time wasters. That's never gonna happen. It will boil down to one guys word against anothers and someone to decide who's right, who's wrong and then there's just a whole lot more time wasted.

If they jerk you around tell THEM what you think about it and move on.

I should add, some of the people who contact you and want to deal outside the HAMB have most probably been asked not to use the cl***ified forums for one reason or another.

It is most likely in your best interest to tell them no thanks.

    5467 Jerry,

Just post it back up for sale.

After 8 Weeks - the buyer ( NOT) doesn't have the neccessary things to complete the sale.
You have been patient enough - no more excuses.

    BTW -
This should be a GOOD SELLERS REVIEW for all to read for ANY AND ALL FUTURE ADS.

My suggestion in ANY AND ALL ads is plain and simple....

    1. Spell out your payment terms ( money order /paypal Etc. Etc)
    2. If M.O. by snail mail - THEY HAVE 2 WEEKS MAX for payment to be recieved in my hands.
    3. If payment not recieved it GOES BACK UP FOR SALE PERIOD - END OF STORY.

IF YOU DO THIS , THEN YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO BE WORRIED ABOUT BEING PAID IN A TIMELY MANNER. Payment not recieved in 2 weeks - ad goes back up for sale.
