I need help! I have a 1935 ford tudor sedan that has been converted to hydraulic brakes using ford parts from a more recent model. 1939 maybe? The problem is that the parking brake is just pinned to the brake pedal shaft, so setting the parking brake just actuates the hydraulic brakes. There are two problems with this: there is no emergency brake if I lose hydraulic pressure, and setting the parking brake activates the brake lights and drains the battery. I have noticed that there are arms coming out of the rear brake backing plates, but the cables have just been cut off. Another problem is that the brake pedal has a lot of side play. Very sloppy fit, I ***ume the bushings are worn out. I have not dis***embled this yet. I have replacement bushings. So, are there parts available that I can order new and use for my application? (ebrake cables, lever, etc.) If so, how do I identify them? What year and model of car do the parts come from? Do they require adaptation for my application? I will try to get some pics up for reference (I also need someone to tell me how to post pics, I have no idea). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
lokar makes a good setup and you can get the cables to complete the deal.do away with that other hogwash ****.
I have a 35 rear with 40 brakes. They just used the 40 e-brake cables running along the rear bones. Then you could find a used e-brake handle with the ratchet teeth from just about any 1920s- to early 30s car and make a bracket to hold it to the X member side rail. Swap meet or ebay should have a handle.
