Right now Andy is helping me sort out a couple things that I had some trouble with. One of the things was the hinge alignment on the a-pillars. Rather than reposition the hinge pocket on the a-pillar which a lot of folks do when they slant the post, he came up with the idea of using an alignment rod to make sure that the hinges are in the same plane so the door functions properly. You hit the top hinge with a torch and keep checking position with the alignment Rod until they are the same top and bottom. Then tweak as necessary to eliminate any binding. Brilliant.

The A pillar is tacked in several places so in won't move prior to doing this

Going to use this neat old flip top cap cap on top of the quarter. I think it's either brass or bronze. Should clean up nice.
Trying to figure out what it was off of originally. Anyone know?

We had one similar to that covering our fuel supply tank but I think it had a loop to install a lock of some kind. Non-sparking is a tip off.

Jerry: We had that style cap on 50's and 60's vintage drilling rigs. Both locking and nonlocking type.

Outside for fresh air. Andy gave me some help getting the top finished and the a-pillars and hinges situated. I think we ended up with some nice lines.

Well there's plastic surgery and then theres mechnical surgery. Incredible forward thinking, a little bead here and a pitter patter there and Voila...a Hotrod is born. Whatta cool puzzle. Simply amazing to see. Good stuff.
