It's really amazing some of the second rate work that you find on these old hot rods. I guess back then if you really screwed one up you just drove around, found another, and started all over again.............no big deal:rolleyes::) Would be nice to go back and fill an old barn with virgin origionals, hit the time machine ****on and zap yourself back to today and start building. Naw!! Half the fun is straightening out someone else's hack work.........right?

Nothing to exciting right now...ripping apart the old brakes and redoing them with the old chrome backing plates..waiting on new springs and hardware.....cleaning up 70 years of dirt and grease off of the old spindles...etc..getting ready to do the kingpins. Axle is cleaned up ready for paint. Waiting on some parts from Backorder Bill. Just doing all of the not so fun dirt work right now that needs to get done.
Still working on the frame too

Spindles are cleaned, reamed and fitted with new kingpins..All my front suspension stuff is ready to be ***embled for mock up. Brake hardware finally came in...backing plates are cleaned and ready for the new break stuff. Hubs and drums are cleaned and painted. I'd like to have the front end completely put together by the end of this coming weekend.

All the extra **** welded onto the frame is now off. I'll post some pics this weekend.

Buddy Palumbo came over tonight and we put the body on the cart. I did some more hammer and dolly work on the cowl sides before heading in for the night.

I think dark maroon lacquer on the body...louvered decklid ....firestone bias ply blackwalls with the black 32 Packard wheel covers, stainless original ford baby moon hub caps modified to fit. Motor is painted black with the old aluminum Edmunds stuff... The dark maroon on the body should go good with the old original 1950's interior that's going back in it. Hopefully it will all come together..I can see it in my head!

    Thanks..I'm trying

Got some more stuff done recently. Primered the axle and spindles and put the front end together. It will be ripped apart and painted black after the whole ch***is is mocked up. Gearsforguts came over and we ***embled the front brakes..need to get some front brake hoses tomorrow. All the springs and the adjuster kits they had on the shelf at auto zone. They are 50 Ford pick up brakes.

All the old chrome stuff looks pretty cool too and cleaned up real nice.

Going to use old Chrysler tail lights..cleaned them up tonight too. I traded an old caddy intake that I had on the shelf for these. I love em! What's with all the mopar parts....motor..steering wheel...dash insert..tail lights.....I know..I know..ha.

My boxing plates also showed up today from Wolfs Metal Fabrication...metalfaber here on the HAMB. What a quality product this guy is putting out..and was super fast with the shipping. Here's a link to his cl***ifed add selling these

they have little nibs every foot or so to help with the fitting..cool idea. These are beefer then the last set I used that I got elsewhere..the metal quality on these seems to also be very good.

Degreased my 57 Olds rear housing and started getting it ready to weld on

This past week I also spent a bunch of time on the doors. There were a few small pinholes on the bottom of each skin. It wasn't worth reskinning the doors because they were so small so I welded them up. I should have the doors in primer by early next week..more pics soon. It's been slow the past couple weeks..but I'm kicking *** on it right now.

    Happy Holidays everyone!

Very good progress! It's amazing what a bunch of elbow grease will do for some old parts. I'm lovin' the Olds rear and the '38 style bones thing. Super strong and sooooo traditional!
