Hey all just a brief note to let you all know that Peggy will be disposing of my 34 & 32 toys in a few months as I'm getting too old to play anymore. Hoping to keep the 34 roadster, just to look at & polish. Celebrating my 89th birthday today. No complaints it's been a great ride. I have a new toy now. It's called a Quickie 700 M motorized chair WOOOO HOOO it's a 5 speed. No way you´re 89, there´s a teenager sitting in your car Beautiful cars and all the best to the new caretaker
Dammit, Bob! Happy Birthday. We've never met but I feel almost as if I know you from your posts over the few years I've been on here. I've not always agreed with what you've said but you've been very clear on how you stand on things and I appreciate that. I look forward to more of your comments. I know it's difficult for you to part with your cars and hard for me to hear of you giving them up. If this is your decision, I applaud you for it. I'm 11 years younger than you and not looking forward to the day when I have to make the decision or, God forbid, have it made for me. Again, Happy Birthday and I hope you have many more.
Happy Birthday Bob! Wow, they've come a long ways with those motorized chairs - yours looks just like a 32 roadster!!
Good choice to thin the herd now, rather than someone having to do it without your guidance and input. Now, about that 700M.... what are your plans.... wheel choices, color scheme, bigs and littles? Inquiring minds want to know.
Happy birthday Bob! I know that we don't know each other but a kind word seems to be even more valuable in this day and age.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOB. So very sorry to hear that you are going to dispose of your rides. That particular day comes for all of us, sadly, and sometimes all too quickly. Glad you are holding on to one though. Take care and I wish you many more birthdays to follow.......Don.
Happy Birthday Bob, 89 is really not that old, if your a tree! I tried to check out the cars but all I get is this . HRP- THE H.A.M.B. - ERROR
I suppose its better to sell them now rather than wait til they are no longer desirable to the car crowd and the younger generation who enjoy turbo 4cylinders with fart pipes.
Happy Birthday Bob! I don’t figure I’ll make it to be 89 at the rate I am going. I definitely understand thinning the herd when the time is right. I also can’t see the pics of the cars.
Happy Birthday Bob, Since Your handle is burnout Bob, keep one and just keep the line lock on When the engine is on, Perfectly safe, An still rubber in the Air... Cheer's
Thanks everybody the fine B'day wishes. It was a good day. I think I had a spastic finger & post more than one pic of a car. I'll try again. hold your breath & hope they stay. Verte had a Jimmy 270 bored, Mallory ign, head surfaced, cam, Lincoln intake valves, Clark split manifolds, dual 97s, pwr glide rear end tire were Goodyear double eagles. paint emerald green w/white top & the ford was an X Pa state trooper car. the caddy was a 331 I think. Been a long time since the early 50s.
guthriesmith: I did too until I fell asleep at a stop sign (country road) & the girls' mom that had dated that night woke me up blowin her horn. She sez "you can't sleep there someone might run into you. Then she sez "Aren't you Bob D? & I sez" no I'm his brother" & took off down the road only to fall asleep again & stick that beautiful caddy 8' or so up an old oak tree. T road curved & I went straight. When it went in the ditch it sent me airborne I guess. When I woke up I was looking through the hole where the windshield used to be & the stars & headlight shining thru the tree limbs, I immediately tried to start it to no avail. The windshield came out & flew across the hood taking paint with it. It hit with such force it bucked at the rear 1/4s. I just hurt my right shoulder & a few scratches. I didn't go home for a few days & stayed at my sisters,' nursing my wounds & the sorrow of totaling that beautiful caddy. Insurance said it was a total, paid me & cancelled me. I shoulda kept those chrome skits. It wasn't long after that I bought a 51chevy hdtp & headed to Ca. to get out of the cold & snow & get into Ca.hotrod scene.
Bob, sorry I’m late here; just catching up with my reading. Happy birthday & enjoy the years ahead as well. Looks to me like you’ve enjoyed a fine life and have many fine memories to reflect on. Enjoy!
I'm going to pretend I met you in the parking lot of the Motel 6 in Wendover 10 or 15 years ago. Or was it real? Wayno
