Some of you might have seen my post called " Barn FInd of a Lifetime" featuring my B Altered drag truck. Jim Morris the origional builder/owner came by my house to see it in person for the first time in 41 years!
It was quite the reunion. Jim remembered just about everything about the truck and even brought me another photo.
He seemed glad that the truck was still around and was happy that it fell into hands that appreciate the truck and was excited that I was going to restore it back to exactly the way it was. As you can see in the photos im just now finishing my garage, Once I do the restoration will begin and I will start a new post just for that project.
Enjoy the photos. For complete history of the truck and find check out my previous thread. "Bran Find of a Lifetime"

Quite possibly my favorite truck on here, I don't know if I would restore it or not it's perfect the way it is.

VA - Love the truck! Congrats! It would be a tough decision for me: restore it or leave it as is... Good luck.
I'm building an A/A from a '36 PU (narrowed 20" and chopped 8") - Hope mine comes out as cool as yours...

PS: That must be some great bran you found! I'll have to check out the thread.

Hey Todd, How's about a match up against my D/Altered 23 roadster when your done restoring your's? How's the Jalopy showdown drags 2010 sound.;)

Mine and yours both ran at some of the same drag strips back in the day but mine was built about 8 to 9 years or so after yours.

I have a bunch of pics from Mason Dixon Dragway from the 60's but your altered is in none of them. If I come across any I'll let you know.

That is one bitchin' cool truck and I'm jealous. I've been looking for a truck project for over 5-years now, but haven't found the right one yet.
I know you have already decided to restore it to the way it was, but I'd just refurbish the mechanicals and drive it like it is. I love that patina ...

How refreshing to hear that your going to restore it to it's former glory. Just like any "fad" the patina thing is just overdone and I'm on the verge of puking every time I see it used. Even "restored" it will be somewhat on the crude side by todays standards and I think that is the point that everyone misses. When your done one should have the feel of how it was the first time it rolled to the starting line those many years ago. I'm sure the old owner will have those exact feelings when he sees it finished. If he does that's when you will know you did it right.

Thanks for all the replys. From Both threads. and fab32 you are right. I think Jim is really anxiuos to see this thing back to its old self. You could only imagine the look in his face when he stood there and looked at that truck. You could see him going back in time and not only reliving all the passes he made in it but all of the hours of work it took to build it. He calls and e-mails me often now just to keep in touch with his pride and joy. Resto thread coming soon !

  22. VA hamb;

When I began to trace the history of my old drag car.I contacted the guy who built it..he lived about 2500 miles from us.Was able to find him thru another racer.
He flew in and verified all the history surrounding it..
Two weeks later I get a package in the mail ..
He sends me his U S National winning trophies ,and tells me I might as well have them..
We repainted the car & with their permission, put his name back on the car..

So ,locating the original owner/builder..is a COOOL deal for sure..

    Good Luck with the car.

    Thanks 1939fiat,
    Great story,
Mr. Morris tells me that he threw all of his trophies away. I ask him about them from time to time just in case he has them but is not ready to let them go yet.
