Hey! I was readin' the article about Jimmy Shine in the new Ol Skool Rodz mag, and they mentioned that he built a bike for Mickey Rourke some time ago. I knew he did some Harleys, but did he do the one that Mickey rode in the film "Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man"?? The bike used for most of the action shots in the film was actually a 'stunt double' built to reduce wear and tear on Rourke's real custom scoot, which was the bike he rode in the movie. I had an older issue of HOT ROD magazine a while ago that had a feature on Rourke's chop, but I can't find it now. Just wondering if anyone knows if that was the bike Shine built for him, or if there was another??? Anyone got pics of the movie bike? If I ever HAD to ride a Harley...I'd want it to be THAT one!

The original bike was built by Bartels H-D. They're in west LA and have a custom shop right behind the dealership. And yes, there were more than one of them. http://www.bartelsharley.com/
I thought that bike was pretty cool too, if I remember it was a FXR frame with hardtail struts and a raked neck with something like 4" over front tubes. There was a company that was reproducing them (something like Black Death Cycles??) but don' know it they are still around?? Rourke also rode a pretty cool panhead (I think) in one of the Wild Orchid movies.
