About a decade ago I had a neighbor (Tom Archer and his wife Joanne) on the next block who had a Model A he was building. He stopped into my sign shop frequently to talk cars. One day he mentioned that he had built an award-winning show car back in the '60's that had made it into a few magazines. He said it was an Olds that he had converted into a pickup. I didn't remember it at all. A few years later he passed away after a very short illness. A couple of years after that I was re-reading some "little books" and found several pics of his Olds. I finally got to see it at the Chicago World of Wheels (shown above in magenta). Glad to see it's still around.
that thing is cool, it had a six figure resto not long ago, looks great. It sold ridiculously embarrassingly cheap no reserve last year at Mecums Indy sale.....
Congrats! I've always thought that Olds was super cool and I was excited to finally get to see it in person last year at the Custom Car Revival.
Congratulations, Glad it found a kool care taker. I got to see it in person at the Starbird show in Tulsa. This one you have to see in person to appreciate all of the work involved. She is purrdy.
As an old friend would say to describe something really cool “ that is tighter than a mini-bike chain”. Whatever the color is, I love it.
"That's a superfine machine! It might even be better than Daryl Starbird's superfleck moonbird. It *is* better than Daryl Starbird's superfleck moonbird!"
I love this car. I also remember when it got auctioned off a year or so ago and I was shocked at the sale price, especially after the top-notch restoration it had recently received. The headlights are 57-58 Chrysler or Desoto, not Plymouth though.
Congratulations! I got to see it in person at the Daryl Starbird show when it was there. Very nice car!
very nice car. Everything flows well and is not shocking, but still very unique without leaning towards ugly. Looks like the restoration was nicely executed
