John Buttera too??!?

Someone just posted on another car board that John Buttera has just died.
Can anyone verify or debunk?
Seems like several recent decades of rodding trends just departed all at once.
Briefly a HAMBer, too.

That's sad. I never met the man but have immense respect for him as a builder. I bought my boy a box full of old mags from the '70's and '80's a couple of month's back and as I looked through them it seemed like every other one had a feature on one (or more) of his cars and they were all beautiful, state of the art cutting edge stuff. An automotive artist and a true pioneer!

 

I hope this is not true. I met Lil at Steve Johnson's Paintin' Place on Clark Ave in Bellflower in the seventies when he was reinventing the idea of hot rods. What a great talent. Sending prayers now...

 

could be a mis-posting. Lets hold off until we know for sure. Shit can get real deep real fast, and these are my good boots.

I sure hope it's a rumor. I still remember sitting in the high-school ibrary, back in the late '80s, day-dreaming over Buttera's work in HotRod. He's a cool guy too....
