I know John p***ed away, didn't know when. Chuck is still kicking, saw him at CHRR in'10. He was there along with Stan Adams, track announcer at Pomona way back when

 

Don, correct, he is listed on Don Ewald's "those remembered" page for drag racers who have p***ed away....(not much about him on this site, he was a contemporary of the Chrismans, back in the early 50s, would like to know more about him).

 

As I remember, correct me if I'm wrong, he and some others organized the drag strip at Pomona Fairgrounds. There were about 3 car clubs in Pomona at the time, the Choppers were one of them,didn't have a place to race so they raced over in Fontana. Then John and some others got together with the Pomona Police Dept. and set out the track in the parking lot of the fairgrounds. I know he and the club used to run the lakes and Bonneville, had a chopped coupe called the Miss 400. That's about all I know of him other than he was quite a character when I was working at the strip.
