This is a Tat design I just did for a guy, thought you might like it Johnny. Hey, I have one question also, does anyone why the Rat Fink started out gray and then went to the green?
Diet of toxic waste might have something to do with it. Maybe Ed wanted it to stand out on primered cars?
From one J/A to another J/A- I like it! Nothing like a good ol' trad Grey RF.... The color change came about as another one of Ed's weird quirks.....Revell originally had their artists render RF as grey because Roth only had a black & white version of Wes Bennett's art at the time.....it stayed that way out of habit.....when Ed came back in the early '80s,he wanted more visible and vibrant versions of the old Studio art files, so contrary to Ed's sign-painter's way of thinking, GREEN was chosen for the new RF (PMS 375).....also, a wide variety of colors for old standards like Mother's Worry,Wild Child, and the rest....the color change was also a further personal separation between Ed and his "former" life prior to 1970......another use of various colored Rat Finks (see the trading cards) was a goofy way of indicating moods or in-jokes regarding the monsters ( like a chameleon or mood ring), as well as giving the artist more choices in color planning when doing a full color scene... But to my way of thinking, how can you mess up the colors on a "monster painting"? Failsafe!
Ed used to joke with us that RF was really from Texas- from a toxic waste dump between Midland and Odessa.....just another off the top of his head reason why RF turned green....
Yeah the toxic waste dump between Midland and Odessa---I know it well, I wondered what those crazy looking critters where running around there!
I got some family from that waste dump area...I wonder if me and Fink are related. I just can't seem to keep these flies off me.
That's from the dried up Wendy's scarf that you blew chunks of all over yerself.......oh yeah, can you get us Colette's panty size? Our new Ace edible panties are ready and we want to have our friends sample them.....
Cool, thanks for the info. My buddy that wanted the Tat really kinda wanted green but i talked him into the earlier grey. Now I can give him some reason why, my thought was always that grey was better suited for a rat and that green was some kind of attempt to make him more of a "monster", the reason you told me makes more sense. If you every want to do an offensive painting with RF, one I always had in mind to try was of Minny Mouse bent over the hood of a rod and RF pourin' the coals to her, if you know what I mean.
Not me, man......when it comes to Rat Fink, I stay fairly trad,Dad..... Now- our character "Daughter of Angel Fink", well that's different!
