This Saturday, March 14, one of the race cars Jud Larson drove will be on display at Thunderhill Raceway. Jud spent many years in the Austin area. In fact some of his relatives still live and race in the Austin area.

In January of this year Jud was inducted into the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame. It was a great ceremony and a family event as Jud's brother was there to accept the award.

The current owner of the car Jud drove, Bill Jones, will have the Checkerboard Offy at Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, TX, just south of Austin. The USAC National Midgets http://www.usacracing.com/midget_index will be part of the 2009 Allstate Texas Racefest http://www.texasracefest.com/ on Saturday and have asked to have a group of vintage midgets on display.

In addition to the Pop Dreyer Checkerboard Offy there will be three other midgets on display. Please come out and see us. The vintage racecars will be on display all day.

Have you ever seen the books by Philip LeVrier from Daisetta TX about midget racing in Texas? Not sure if they are out of print. It is a 2 volume set well illustrated and researched.

I do not have a copy of the book but did borrow one from a friend while researching my midget that ran in TX.

Do you have a copy for sale?

Puke Hollow was at Langhorne, not William's Grove.
