I recently read the thread about installing 40 - 48 juice brakes on a Model A rearend. I was about in the middle of the project when I saw a vintage sprint car with an innovative solution. I did it, and it worked well.

Simply turn he backing plates upside down. To do the job properly, and allow for easy bleeding, the wheel cylinders need to be mounted right side up. To do this weld up all of the wheel cylinder mounting bolt holes and grind smooth. Place the wheel cylinder on the backing plate with the bleeder screw on top and transfer punch and redrill the mounting bolt holes. I only used the top two mounting bolts, and ground away a little of the other bosses for backing plate and drum clearance. Two mounting bolts seem fine since my Lincoln front brakes have a two bolt mount.

Anyway, the system bleeds easily, the brakes work well, and I think the installation looks very clean.
