Finally drove my '30 Tudor minus a few parts. No hot rod stuff yet, just the '35 wires and reversed eye springs for now. Engine is full insert with modern pistons, valves & hard seats. It's got a bit of a hard seat to sit on too, I didn't go too fast!

Far better than sitting in the garage going "vroom vroom".

    Care to share more details?

Was able to drive mine to the goodguys show this weekend. My issue a few weeks back ended up being a clogged fuel valve at the bottom of the tank. Any advice on cleaning it?

I bought this a couple years ago, it hadn't run since '68. The body is pretty nice. I'm doing 100% mechanical and interior work, new roof and glass. I'll just repair, wet sand, and Gibbs oil the body for now. I may make it shiny some day, but I like worn stuff too. Going to leave the fenders on this one, and not chop it.

  12. Got news today that Harold Johansen crossed the Finish line last night.
Harold was the oldest active member of the SCTA and BNI.
He had some of the wildest 4 Bangers around and was a pioneer in Banger parts.

no services news as of yet.

Checking in, I will be moving to Memphis Tn later in the month, Any Banger brethren from the area?

  14. ^^^^^ Look up Paul Kosma, Kosma Design and Fabrication, in Horn Lake, MS. just across the line, if you need work done.
He's done everything from Donovans to full pressure inserts and everything in between.
Don't know if he's taking new business, but he's meticulous and does it right. He usually has a waiting list.
He's built several engines (OHV and FH, insert and babbit) for another friend that are strong runners.

    Here's a Donovan he built:

Built the Cragar in this 32:

  15. Looks like one of the very few that has the exhaust headers done right given the firing order of 1243!

  16. BTW, this "Banger" engine with a OHV conversion is running better'n than I've ever gotten it. We've been cutting lap times off in double digits every track we've run (so far). It'll go faster when I figure out a slight "burble" between 3000 and 4000 rpm! 2018_svra_smf_gp1_032_s16_0298_2491442c-d3cc-4308-85ff-76e419d6a5af_1024x1024-2.jpg

Last 1 ½ month spend on the daily "banger" (my '67 Volvo 221 with B20, E head, K cam, Weber carb), 'cause I'm gonna be needing a stc in a couple of months! So, I'll go to the garage now, hoping to get the G28T/B in an A "race"car finished this summer!

Looks like a Derek Thompson quick change from New Zealand uses winters gears with 6 spline. I have that setup on my 31 pickup with 354 A gears and the number 4 winters in a Derek Thompson rear
Also running the T5 trans out of an 88 S10 supposed to have a 28% reduction in overdrive

Checking in! I am still waiting on my inserted motor from Burt’s. Should be done soon. Sounds like they are super busy these days. I will update when I get it put in.
