Folks Of Interest Jumping to conclusions

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Apr 21, 2017.

  1. Today Brenda & I got away from the Shop for lunch which is something we don't get to do too often on a week day.

We just happened to be driving the "Ranch Wagon" and as luck would have it we got one of the few parking places near the front of the restaurant and as we walked in I headed to the restroom to wash my hands and a guy said he saw us pull up and he really liked my car,I said thanks, but it's my wife's car.

When I got to the table Brenda was talking to a couple of suits and the were asking her about her husbands car,she politely corrected them that it is her car.

I know all you guys know I built the wagon but you also know it is indeed her car.
Does your wife or girl friend own a rod or custom and do total strangers Jump to conclusions and assume that you are the owner? HRP

hahaha... yes, happens to me also. But that´s mainly because all my neighbors see ( and hear) me working on my girlfriends 53 Suburban all the time...I always tell them that it can´t be mine, I wouldn´t have bought a rust bucket like that....but it´getting better step by step:) IMG-20170410-WA0010.jpeg IMG-20170410-WA0019.jpeg

I bought a truck project one time and my wife informed me it was going to be her truck. OK, so I built it to her specs. When it was done, she never drove it. I was forced to drive "her truck" all the time. I should have built it the way I first intended to build it. At least she rode around in it with me a lot, we had a great time with her truck.
Now, the off topic daily driver car she choose is defiantly her car, but if we go someplace together in it, she wants me to drive. Gene

Here is the day we bought, (37th Wedding Present) Chick';s new daily driver. Standing next is the builder Shug Hanchard. And I am the passenger, she get a bunch of looks and when she is by herself she gets the where is your husband questions. Then she will tell them about her other roadster, that goes 145 mph.

Here is my wife's OT car that I've never driven. When someone does strike up a conversation, she's quick to point out that it is HER car DSC00028.JPG

I have a friend who has a beautiful '37 Chevy 4-door. He always talks about it being HER car, but in the 25 years I've known them, I've NEVER seen HER drive it!:D

The missus' 65 Nova that she "lets" me work on.

    20160108_143218.jpg

Bought this in 1982 just befor we were married.
The plan (that I talked her into) was to pull the six cyl/ three on the tree out and put a V6:eek:
and a Muncie four speed in it for her daily. Well, I guess one out of two ain't bad right!
I came to my senses when I found a real Nova 327 and started collecting every NOS L79 engine part I could find. Hey, I already had the Muncie, what else was I to do.

    Hello,
When my wife would be driving the red, 40 Ford Sedan Delivery back in those early years, she would pull up to our favorite restaurant and would immediately get hit up about the car. That is until I got out of the car and joined in on the conversation.

But, sometimes, I would just go inside and leave her alone. That was funny, (because she was driving, she would answer as many questions as possible.) since I was just inside of the door looking back. She was giving me the “stink eye” expression, saying, “come and get me out of this…”

It was more fun to see the reaction of guys when a girl/woman would stand and answer car questions. But, once I stepped into the conversation, the questions stopped and we moved along. I guess I did not look to friendly, being a big guy and all…

My wife certainly got more waves while driving than I did. Those 40 sedan delivery seats were very comfortable and for some reason, were lower than most seats. But, a woman driving one of those looked very cool, and that is why I think my wife really liked this sedan delivery. She was sad when we had to sell this sedan delivery to buy our next, family oriented, house.

  21. Through most of the 70's and into the early 80's ladyhrp's daily driver was a 40 Ford deluxe sedan. HRP

My wife has had two C4 Vettes and the current 88 Firebird Formula. Like others have stated, they were her cars, I just get to work on them and sometimes drive.

. This is my wife's car, she picked it out, polishes it, pays for the parts, helps me work on it when I need an Xtra hand. When we talked about her getting a car, I said, you choose as I know her, she does have a late model OT car, her choice, she bought and paid for it, her deal. The Buick is our first adventure into a classic car, the work involved and some family issues have us considering selling the Buick and my Mercury and continue on with our OT late model iron, have not advertised them yet, but it's on my mind. It does seem to surprise people that it's her car, when guys start asking me questions, I send them her way as she can answer most questions and enjoys talking with people, seems most have a story about the family Buick/driving vacations, etc. She is pretty good at parking this non PS beast and guys directing her always look in amazement that it's a women driving. I'm a very lucky man to have a wife that is a can do person and look good doing it.

IMG_0009.JPG I call this the "yes dear car". It's my wife's car and she says ,can I have an automatic, can I have Power steering, can I have a roof chop, can I have better suspension. She made all the decisions including paint and interior along with the pinstripping.
She is proud of the cuts on her fingers from sanding all 270 louvres.
She doesn't drive it all the time but takes it out when she wants.

maybe built at factory in '65 - same problem as others, even though the color "Periwinkle" (lavender/blue) should give people a hint that it is not my truck DSCN8262.JPG

I got really lucky with my 50 Chevy. She found it, told me to buy it and has never wanted to drive it. I think it's because she's never driven a three on the tree before.

  27. Not HAMB friendly, but I'm constantly correcting people about my wife's 1927 Model Fordor (stock), she was the one that asked to sit behind the wheel at 5 months pregnant & then got out, shook the owners hand & told him to remove the 4 sale sign, I even declined the previous owners offer to show me how to operate it when she was learning how to - telling him I would let my wife show me how to operate her car, I didn't have anything to do with the safety & registration etc. for a couple reasons, I wanted her to know it was her car right from the start (her dream car) & didn't wan't anyone saying it was my car & I just let her drive it - here she is lubricating the suspension, she knows how to fill the grease caps & start that fussy beast as well ! Ha ha - Almost every time we are out in it I have to say "you will have to ask my wife, it's her car" to someone - 20140613_112655.jpg

  29. I enjoy seeing those early Stockers on the road. Holds my attention more than most Hot Rods. To see a Lady driving it and finding out she does all the maintenance is just icing on the cake.
