Just got my June issue of HR mag. It's the best one in while in my opinion, 50's rides, detailed early hemi guide, and a non-HAMB friendly Pinto that is wicked fast.

Yeah I really enjoyed seeing all the old photos, it's amazing the kind of stuff they have in their archives. This might be OT, but I do wish the Don Garlits article was more than one page, I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall at that roast!

It was almost a Hot Rod Deluxe, lol. It had a good variety of stuff, like Hot Rod should have. That tractor was neat!

I've been working my way though it one article at a time and it is one of the better issues that they have put out lately.

Yes, and this issue does not have a rice burning mini pickup.

I have panned Hotrod many times in the last year, but this issue was the best I have read in many years. I agree, I would like to have been at that roast. I was Don Garlits arch nemesis as a flagger in Florida many years ago, when we both were young.

The blue 29 was sweet, and I really enjoyed the Hemi Info!

do you think readers are not so interested in 2000HP, 8 second street cars or 700HP cars just off the showroom floor ? maybe they are trying to appeal to Hot Rod, Street Rod types? Cars that run on 87 octane gas and get resonable gas mileage? I don't know, I liked this issue, but who knows what will their new format will be...jack

I just went out and bought the issue for the early hemi info. More or less what I expected, except for the kick in the nuts about my main cap girdle.

First HR I've bought in quite a while.

And then the next day I got a letter from HR offering me 36 issues for $20 bucks. Might do it.

I'm not falling for it. I agree it's "cool", but to me they are just digging through the archives and recovering whatever has survived the test of time. Someday they will have gone through all the cool stuff and will realize that they forgot to add to the archive. Then they will switch to covering imports because we will all be dead.

The whole issue was photo shopped. Of all the guys in the photos, only one had a T-shirt, nobody had tats and never spotted ****ies with 6" cuffs. How can that be "traditional" as defined by some here on the HAMB?

And the best part was, not a single mention of the double R word (that I could find anyways)

Maybe they are going out with a bang.

  22. The coverage of Cam Grants work and shop was very good.
One of the great builders from this part of the Northwest.

I subscribe, but then I like more than one style of build. Not all, but more than just one. Always figured if you pigeon toe yourself into one style and one style only your short changing yourself. To each, his or her own, but at $0.55 an issue I can afford to toss it if I don't like it.

neat stuff in this issue--old drag photos are neat--Luther Wheats 6cyl from Madera with Lou's Auto on the side--must have been Lou Toschi's old garage in Madera

Nice to see and hear such positive strokes on the Iconic mag. My bro Rob Lee takes it and I have gained respect for it again and am subscribing soon. After all, when they throw out some deals it is so inexpensive you can't go wrong. Positive = good vibes! ~sololobo~

It worries me a little bit when they can't identify a pic , and they have access to all the archives, they need a old fart there to tell them which car they put on and which issue it was in . They have a goldmine if they would just use it right. Cash in on the history more!

That's the way I see it, too. I've subscribed to Hot Rod for 17 years now. Some issues are better than others, but all have some interesting articles. The subscription price is dirt cheap!

  29. Just got mine. Cover looks good so I threw it on the night stand to read in bed. Funny, I don't get to excited about reading HRM anymore so I hadn't opened it yet. Maybe tonight.
