Welcome to the HAMB Pam. You've been quite the conversation piece on here
since Kev started this thing I was also at OCIR racing my ol 57 in the 70's. I think

As an old geezer, I have one more thing to add. When you went to the race track weither it be roundy round or drag racing, the driver if he got interviewed, he did not spend a halfhour thanking his sponsers and owner and god almight before he told you how he won the race.

Seriously, as a Pontiac historian and Pontiac engine builder, (Rock 'N' Roll Engineering is my shop,) do you remember you guys ever racing Jess Tyree? Back in the day he ran Firebird bodies.

Jess is a pal and I've heard SO many stories from him and his main crew guy, Mike Lieby, plus he used to run one of my engines and I hauled his butt back east on a mini tour about 9 years ago. I'm just curious if you had any memory racing him or whatever. (The "whatevers" are sometimes more fun than the racing!)

Now that it's cold outside I thought about Hollywood FL
We'd take 95S - well, as far it went - flying all the way. We'd fill up the sleeper with our clothing as the temperature got warmer.
It rained the day of the race. Back then the track would let folks drive their cars down the track to dry it out. Jungle and I were in his blue Vette. The car pulls to the line, windows up, and he starts to do a burnout. The track official about has a heart attack. Yells at us to roll down the window. And then he sees Jungle behind the wheel. Big smiles. Have at it. He did a bithchin' burnout and off we race down the track.

 

Oh yes Pam..The famous Miami Hollywood Dragway ... We remember many night !!!

 

And did you bring a shovel with you to the end of the track Al?

Pam, i've got a few questions if it's ok?

1. how did you and jim meet? i've read that he saw you walking down the street?

2. how did he explain to you what he wanted you to do?

3. did you know who he was when he approached you?

4. how many weeks a year did you travel?

5. what year did you start traveling with jim? and how many years did you travel with him?

i could go on forever but i'll stop here.
