I'm a member of shoeboxford.com, great site! I sure can't find anything about the Junior Conway Ford. Any help. how 'bout a link to the article?
i'm no longer a member of that site after years there. the moderator is larry.teel.ask him to locate it for ya. he is cb chief on here.
This guy is supposed to be in his early 40's.Owns a automotive assessoriee co.Building it himself after hours????????????
Not that it matters but if you were gonna do a clone wouldn't you make it out of the correct 49 instead of 50
probably because you are going to the extreme length of copying some one else, if you were going to make a shoebox custom wouldn't you have some of your own originality. Plus I have heard that Mr. Conway is quite the perfectionist, so if you do make the decision to copy his car it had better be pretty damn correct.
hell dude..tell that to the other guy that's doing it.we're just trying to figure out who is doing it.when we find out we'll let you knowv and you can bust his chops.
I don't really give a shit if you would just open your eyes and read the damn post before stating NOT THAT IT MATTERS. I was just saying that it was originally a 49 instead of a 50. So maybe you should read the post before having a shitty comment.
Well, whoever is cloning this car,If it looks like the original who cares what year it started out as. Thats a beautiful car!
Junior's car actually appeared in a movie... the far-from classic "T-bird Gang" from 1959. If I remember correctly it appears in a scene where the gang members are going out on some caper or other and at one point one of the guys gets in the car by popping the solenoid button hidden in the trim strip. It's a pretty strange flick that's worth a watch, but be warned, it pretty much pegs the needle on the implausibility meter!
One of the ways to know the year is the gas door thats visible in the many photo's that are now available on Ric Hovings site.
I will repeat the question.Does anyone in this vast community know who in Kansas is building a Junior Conway clone?
Just a Random change in subject has any one seen the shoebox he did a couple years ago it was published in Rodders journal and it mentions a little about his early coupe. The first is a little article in custom cars talking about the original 49 The other is the link to youtube about the 20th issue the guy shows you the entire magazine http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_.../barris-1/hersh_conways_49_ford/p1160095.html
I couldn't get the pic to come up but here is the link to Rikster page http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11_car_photos/beautiful_custom_cars/barris-1/hersh_conways_49_ford/
I would really like to know if this is happening. that is my favorite shoebox of all time and i have told Junior many times that i would love to clone it. i have many, many, many photos of Juniors car collected from all kinds of people over the years, most never seen by the public before. they could help someone do this car "right". as a side note the first set of skirts with the little bullets sat outside the back of Juniors shop for years and years and years. not many people knew they were back there, and those that did, didn't care at the time. now they're kicking themselves. Junior eventually scrapped them. i personally like the earlier version with those skirts and minimal striping the best. i'll put my feelers out to see if i can come up with any info/news etc. but let's keep this post alive. thanks, geoff
Hi Geoff, I"m the one in Kansas that is also cloning Jr's car. (Early version). If at all possible, I would love to see the photos that your talking about. You may have a few shots that would be of great help to me. I had heard the story about the skirts from Jr...to bad. Actually I was just at his shop today while visiting California. We discussed several details of the car, but I also think your pictures will help me greatly. Jr has been very helpful with information, he is a very gracious person willing to help.
