Ok this a long story but worth telling....it is somewhat related. We own a camp on a lake in the town of Raymond , Maine. Way up on top of Raymond Hill ( great view ) a developer talked an old time Mainer into selling a large field behind his house. The oldtimer kept the farmhouse and barn and several acres behind the barn where he grazed his horses. The developer proceeded to put in a small 10-12 house development with the entrance road going right by the barn and field where the horses grazed. A few years passed and suddenly the new homeowners were after the town to make the oldtimer get rid of the horses he had had for years. Seemed that there was some ordinance that did not allow animals and animal waste to be kept within a certain distance of residences ( something like that). Apparently the new snooty homeowners didn't like the horse smell. In the end the oldtimer lost and had to get rid of his horses.
BUT, at that time there were no ordinances about keeping junk cars on your property. So the oldtimer went out and bought a half dozen junk cars. Spread them around his field( the field where his horses were kept and which the new homeowners had to pass every time they came or left home ). He rolled each on its side with the roof facing the road, and painted a name of one of his horses on each for all to see.
The homeowners tried to force him to move the cars but there were town regulations that could be enforced to do so. I think the cars were there for about 10 years before they were finally removed.
