Went to Tallahassee PicNPull junk yard to see what they had this morning. They have several complete cars - 55 Pontiac, 70 Dodge Coronet station wagon, 70 Ford convertible, 70 Ford Fairlane, 61 Ford Falcon wagon, 63 Ford Falcon. The 55 Pontiac is a 4 door but had very little rust and very good front fenders. I am letting anyone know as I recently sold a BelAir rear seat (2 door) on ebay and had many ask if I had the front bench seat. This has front and rear seats and deck lid that I believe will fit most 55-57 Chevys. It also has good stainless. I got pictures and might be able to help you out if you need it. All these cars had engines and interior. They also had 2 78 Chevy vans if you are looking for a tilt column for a 57 Chevy. I know very little about Fords or Dodges so not much help there. Never had a Dodge and last Ford I drove (except my Dually) was in 1966.
whats the 63 falcon look like? you know how much they wanted for any of them? can you post some pictures?
If the brakes on that `55 Pontiac are any good you should yank em. Someone out there needs those drums and probably some of the other brake parts. I had a hell of a time trying to come up with some for mine and the ones I have now are only ok, not real good.
Someone just posted recently, that they used chevy pickup drums. It was a 55, and I think it was 70s drums that you can get new.
The Tallahassee PicNPull is about 4 years behind on keeping their website up to date. I have already done some contacting people about the 55 parts. The only pics I have are of the 55 and it is a 4 door but the fenders have surface rust only, no dents or cancer. The hood is fixable, the deck lid is fixable and the stainless and chrome are pretty good. I do not know if they sell cars out but their parts are very reasonable. I bought a tilt column out of a 78 Chevy van for $45 for my 57 Chevy and the cheapest on ebay is 3 times that much. I have sent out some PMs and may be going down on Tuesday. I can pull some stuff if anyone needs anything. I charge a couple dollars for fuel, PicNPull price and UPS (or whoever) shipping charge. The goal is to help out others building cars. The information is really inexpensive on here, I think there should be access to parts the same way. I would love to have a section where people that visit other junk yards post on cars that are junked. I spent 4 years gathering parts for a 65 GTO and the parts were apparently made of gold and not that good. So, I am willing to help anyone out that is building on a budget. I do not buy repop sheet metal but prefer original on everything I do. If anyond wants pics on Tuesday let me know and I can take some if you are looking for something.
Forgot, many serious problems with those ball bearing's on the 50s cars that had them. Very expensive replacements and not worth it. There is a company that now makes roller bearing replacements. Personally, I went with disc on my 57 Chevy.
