due to a death in the family? i'm guessing non of the other family members had an interest in running the ol' business, and now everythings off to the crusher. damn shame. anybody ever been there?

I just called them, the seem like they may have a large number of good parts available; however, I don't think they know what they have in the yard. I wasn't able to find out for sure if they had any 49-52 Chevy sedans on the lot. I think they want folks to just come in and look instead of carrying on any business outside of the area.

When the price of scrap skyrocketed a few years ago, a LOT of junkyard saw dollar signs and scrapped everything they had and closed up.

I hear that the EPA is also being VERRRRRY picky now regarding fluid collection, etc. and some places aren't in the mood to fight them...

Don't feel bad, I'm about 5 hours away, and I'm *not* driving up there hoping they have something that's not completely rusted away. I'm not miffed at all, but the fact that they didn't list or really show what they have, or even be willing to answer questions via phone, means that I'm not willing to cruise up there in hopes of a find that's affordable.

This makes me want to cry... All of the history, technology from past years, parts that will never be produced ever again... ALL GONE...

Places like these should be seen as landmarks of times passed. To bad the landmarks are rusted out and left in the trees! If anyone sees a 50 Buick out there drop me a line...

EPA gestapo tactics are the main cause of most of these closures...especially over the past decade, funded by the green movement and tree hugging legislation. If you care about this hobby get involved in fighting legislation that seeks to destroy it, otherwise you have no place to bellyache.

I believe your right Buzznut,..step up to the plate, everyone can beat improper legislation through your votes.

Many of these places are "grandfathered" in. Once the original owner is gone, many times there is no hope of saving them. This yard maybe one that the city/county/EPA has been watching for a long time, just waiting for the owner to pass so they can force a cleanup. That may be why there's so little time.

its in Rockland,ma by the skating rink. The stuff outside is all really bad except for certain trim pieces and big hard parts...coastal new england aint so nice to cars...but when i was there about eight months ago in the barn there was alot of really good sheet metal and bumpers, he also used to have lots of glass. The old man, ronnie everett, was a good guy and always let us just look for what we needed. I believe its his son who took it over. he too is a good guy he just doesnt know what hes got, i think he was too overwhelmed with it all.

I got it when I called (and was hoping it was closer...but nooooooooo.) Here it is:

419 Concord St. (Pronounced Cunhcud up there in deep Yankee territory)
    Rockland, MA

I'm not saying he's not nice, but I agree that he doesn't know what they have....and thus, niether do I! ;)

That being said, if you come across any 50-52 Chevy/Pontiac/Olds doors for a 2 door sedan, or some front or rear quarters for those years...let a brutha know! :)

Just got back from there and boy am i sweating!! Looked through everything and its been picked through well id say. Not a whole lot left to see...There are still alot of bumpers and glass, tons of hubcaps too, lights and trim rings and lots of trim pieces. Still the problem remains, they send you to look for it and when youre done looking they are still way overpriced even when the crusher trucks are coming monday!! I did see a cool set of jaguar rims (steelies) with pins for caps, no idea what size or what they fit(prob metric). And a real nice 59 ford back window with frame(wagon i****ume)...I would also tend to guess they arent interested in shipping anything either:confused:. Oh well, i guess its the end of another cool place to spend a fall afternoon.

They have extended this for a few more days. My buddy was there sat, truckload of Buick Electra parts for $200. From what I hear, barn is full of Model A and T stuff. Has a real clean 40 Chevy for sale also. I think most of the stuff is rotted away, and I agree he doesn`t have a clue about what he has. Has a few Flatties for sale to. Gonna try to get there this week.
