If you are talented you can do it, however, if you screw it up then fixing 'that' will be a bit harder.
So, if Gary at L&S will do it for a reasonable price then why not let the expert do the work?

Chris, I would just send it to your guy. 392's are not a dime a dozen any more. You dont want to **** it up.

What a score! I'm not knocking your abilities but agree with the other posters, if Lock & S***ch is an hour away that might be the best route. I've been swinging wrenches for over 40 years, could do the repairs etc but taking it to the pro's wouldn't bother me a bit.

I had a cracked across my freeze plug area on my 392 and had the stichpin done to it professionally and you can not even tell where the area repaired was. That was 4 years ago and never had any issues since.

Nice score...I picked my 392 up in a F1 my buddy got from a yard. Here's to hemi powered Ice Cream trucks and Ford pickups.

Thanks guys for all the input - I am going take it to Gary - talked to him today he thought it would be about $250 for the repair and $100 to pressure test it - Love it
    :D:D
Had no idea this could be done -thanks Hamb

Yes, it is easy to do, we used to use br*** 10-32 screws with Lock-***e. You try to center punch the last ground off screw so it looks like a perfect TIG weld CCCCCC about 1/2-3/4 of each screw showing. :)
