Does anyone know of any donor vehichles that make an easy power window swap. I trying to figure something out for my 53 Chev. after the chop and sedan to hardtop conversion stock stuff want work. I've been told that some big trucks use a universal style power window unit. Any ideas?

    Thanks

I used the power windows from a mid seventys chevy sedan in a 30 ford truck and a forty ford......you have to modify the arms but the were cheap and worked great! HRP

I believe 80's-90's Volvo (those square ones) power window units are cable drive too. They're just a tube with a arm that slides up and down it that attaches to the glass channel. Because of the way they work, your window would have to have channels on the sides to hold it square as it goes up and down, because the power unit doesn't at all... it's just there to lift and lower. Small, lightweight unit.

Sort of a post hi-jack...sorry, [IMG] butt, does anyone know a "sort-of-universal" quarter window power unit? ...lots of ways to do doors (straight up & down) but quarter windows......? The popular cars(tri-5, mustang) have full kits available, but all the rest are orphans.

Thanks for all the input. I guess I need to just get looking. The best (i think) solution I came up with for rear quarter windows is to make a channel for them to slide into. If I want to go with the windows down just open the door slide the rear window out and store it in the trunk. I know it doesn't very good but it's super simple.

    Thanks
