I'm REALLY excited to see the WC4D come to life on your T. That's one of the best looking SBC intakes there is. My personal favorites: Edelbrock X1, Edelbrock STR10, Weiand WC4D. Are you planning on running middle 2 primaries and outer 2 secondaries or? Holley 94s or Strombergs?
It was in the 60’s today @drdave ! And if I know Joey I’d say he’s going to run four 94’s with straight linkage.
nah man, its not even snowing yet! dude I'm so stoked. I've had it on the car before and it looks killer. Circa February: I'm gonna run them as 2 primary's/2 secondary's with a progressive linkage on ford 94's.
I’m curious how you’re splitting primary/ secondary. Does that manifold have a common plenum? It’s one of my favorite intakes as well so I’m always curious how people are setting them up.
unlike the offy, which is basically a log style setup, or the man-a-fre, which is basically the carb dumping directly above the port, the Weiand has each carb split into the two sides of the motor. so its essentially a duel plane intake. with that the only thing you have to consider is equal fuel along the length of the engine, so you can run the right two carbs, or the left two carbs, and get good fuel distribution over all the cylinders. I've had a couple friends set them up that way and get decent mileage along with a good throttle response. best all around intake for a hot rod in my opinion. .
That’s cool, I had a friend who had a man a fre on a monster of a small block and it really took some time to tune it. Being an IR I take it took a minute, and way more carb than any other 4 carb intake would want, but damn if it wasn’t rocket ship responsive. Would be cool to see a cut away of the weiand
Please pull over to the curb BigJoeArt, this is the spell check police! A manifold is a dual plane, exhaust are called duals, but a duel is just bad for everyone involved because someone or both individuals may get killed or seriously injured. 60 Special
No he’s got it correct, we both held the intake manifold with one hand and with the other hand fought each other with daggers. It all checks out.
It all started with a phone call from @J.Ukrop After our usual "hey joey, this is joey" Joey got right into telling me that Dean had told him he wanted my car shot for Dice! We quickly narrowed down a couple dates that worked, and a little later, Joey sent me a photo of a flight conformation. This started the mini trash to get my car put back together and running, as it was still in disrepair from the arizona trip. nothing money and late nights cant fix. And before I knew it the time was here. I drove my daily down to the airport so we could chat on the way home, and after a stop at the waffle house for a midnight meal, we made our way back to my place. early the next morning, we got out and wrapped up in a bunch of layers, and off we went to go visit my buddy AJ, because I couldn't think of a more fitting way to take photos then a roadtrip. I fired up the roadster and puttered it to the gas station, where I adjusted the timing a little bit, and filled up. after the about 100 mile journey up there with a couple photo stops, we made it to Marne. AJ's business is machine work and building Triumph and other English motorcycle motors. he always has a bunch of neat stuff laying around, and this time it was this neat old chopper project. but eventually we had to part ways, there were more pictures to take! Photographer Joey at work... On the way up to Marne we noted a couple places for pictures, one of which being this cool mid-century propane (and propane acc?) building outside of Atlantic Iowa. Joey at work again.... Oh look, a Joey! And after using all angles and looking at the approaching rain clouds, we decided it was time to move on.... to lunch! As Joey stated, "serious business" on our way home we found a gravel road to take some open photos against the stormy sky. And after getting caught in the rain, and a few more laughs, we stopped at a roadside park in the Nodaway River bluffs north of Clarinda, and hung out on the grass to watch the sunset. eventually the sun was getting low, so we hopped in our trusty steed and turned our tires south. After a fun evening of homecooked food, and some scathing Joey+Joey reviews of random hot rod photos saved on my computer, we hit our respective sacks. the next morning was slow, but we made it out to take a few action shots of the roadster, and eat some biscuits and gravy. The trip was short, but by the time we got to the airport again for Joey's flight out, we were already plotting for our next time to hang. Good times, and now I just gotta fix that pesky radiator leak.
When I read in @J.Ukrop's roadster thread that your T was being featured I thought it was a perfect candidate with a big story to tell much fun
I'm really excitied to see what @J.Ukrop comes up with for the article, and how the photos from sunday turned out. .
@BigJoeArt The drawing is great! That alone should garner extra effort for the article, not that Joey doesn't put the effort in on all his stuff.
HOT OFF THE PRESS! @travisfromkansas came by my shop this February (SEE HERE) and shot some video and a podcast talking about building the car, and the trip to Texas After a mess of editing (he didn't remove my face from it, sorry) he got it put up last night! Travis' post: HERE The video: Go show some love to his youtube channel, Travis posts stuff from all the good shows. as usual, he made the car look better than it is. I took the opportunity Sunday, with the beautiful weather, to drive the T a bit. stopped by my buddies place and helped him move stuff around. my foot.... erm.... slipped... After I got home and let it cool, I let the water out of the motor and radiator, so I can disassemble it and get the radiator leak fixed. I'll let ya know how that goes. . .
Joe, please pull the block drains down near the pan rail on each side if it's going to sit over the winter. Don't want more engine issues in the future. location shown, normally just a plug.
Don't worry, the T has a spot in the heated part of my garage, so no worries there, I'm just draining it so I can pull apart the front end and get my radiator fixed.
No new news. currently sitting with no rad, it's at our local rad shop, determining if it can be fixed or not. .
@BigJoeArt Radiator shop or life kickin' this to the back burner? I know you're working on the other T for a friend.
I don’t think it has a radiator at the moment thought he had mentioned a few weeks ago that he had found a lead on a new one. The shop told him the existing one was beyond repair
no real updates, bought a rad, and a friend picked it up, but its in st louis 6ish hours away. I've been cranking on the 2 bit T, and its about ready to leave, and then I might have a minute between snows, to take a day for the journey. I should also have an update on dads roadster too. making big changes. oh, and I got the tamale wagon out and drove it around when it was nice. helped scratch the itch. believe me, when it runs again, i'll post it here. .
What?!? an update? don't get too excited. I made a 800 mile road trip Saturday with my buddy, and part of that trip was swinging through St Louis and picking up my BRAND NEW RAD! In looking for a new-to-me Radiator, on marketplace, on websites, and through word of mouth, I even got a quote for a new core ($$$) and this deal beat them all. $200 for a WALKER radiator. and its BRAND NEW. Unfortunately its setup for a ford, so ill have to get the lower hose bib moved. shouldn't be an issue for our local radiator guy. the bigger is issue is that its.... BIGGER. It is 3/4 of an inch too wide for my front crossmember. so I've got some cutting to do. but it will be worth it. It also has a larger top tank, that should help hide the electric fans. Overall I couldn't be happier. I'll start cutting soon as the snow melts.
You suck! Congrats on the find! Now you need to relieve the frame 3/8 on each side? Make sure to include that in the lower neck placement!
