    Ask, and ye shall receive.

I decided to do a deep clean for the first time in the 2 years since I built it.

I had some help from my younger baby girl

Saturday afternoon I went with a buddy to a show in our downtown.

We've been chasing a stutter at higher rpm, and after changing a bunch of ignition parts....

    we didn't find it.

but i've been driving it anyway.

    to the store...

    And to work this week.

Its still fun, even though its not running perfect.

I also finished up an exclusive sticker for my open house this year.

they are pretty cool, and there's ONLY 50 of them!

first 50 cars at my open house get one.

    will you be there?

What RPM and under what conditions (steady throttle, mid accel, WOT)?
What is total advance and when, vacuum advance ported or manifold, is the rotor phased well?
Then dive into the carb, or if easier, swap another on and compare.

EDIT: I'd like to show up, but just checked and it's 1300 miles. Mine isn't even in triple digit trips yet, and that's further east than I've ever been before, which was also a tow from North Platte.

I did clean it out, but it wasn't that dirty.

Haha that would be quite a haul in an untested rod, it nearly killed my *fairly* well tested hot rod.

I kept driving it last week, (even running poorly) enough that I had to fill it up with another tank of fuel.

I had it out sunday, to do a little tuning after church, but first, the girls had to "go for a drive"

As you can tell by the floor we've been going through all the ignition system trying to sort out the cut-out RPM problem.
It would cut out, almost like a rev limiter at anything over 3k.
We replaced the entire distributor twice, tried a different coil, wires, plugs, condenser....
    basically the whole ignition system.

Then we decided to look at the carb.

I pulled the jets and it had 56 jets in it. less than I had thought.
So I did a little searching in the carbs I had in stock, and I had a Large base 2gc that had 66 jets.
So we did a little swap, and a couple turns of the screwdriver later, it fired right up.

If you've heard my car in person this may be hard to believe, but it Sounds even more rowdy now.

And it 100% solved the problem.

It now runs harder than ever up past 4k, and will haze the tires in the 2-3 shift.

So, in other words, I'm happy.

And ready for lincoln next weekend!

    See you on the road!

That motor has always needed more fuel
I’m surprised it hasn’t given you trouble before now. Glad you got it sorted! Have a safe trip to Lincoln :)

My buddy that has been helping me tune it, built the motor and it kills him that I won't put electronic ignition and a 4 barrel on it.

    says I'm "giving up HP"

and I just tell him, it overpowers the tries now, what would be the use of more power?

Come with me, on a trip to Lincoln for the Museum of American Speed/ Speedway/ Wheelhub event.

It's only 2 hours, so I didn't have to leave out early.

    New jet make motor happy.

Motor being happy make hot rodder happy.

Ya know what else makes me happy?

    Coffee break!

I made it, without issue, and parked at the back.

And after talking to everyone I wanted to see, and a good chat with @CoolForSchool58 I loaded up and pointed my tires southeast.

I was not alone, as Tim had brought me a passenger.

    he was pretty quiet.

    another un-eventful cruise home

I even stopped at a friends shop to give him a couple flyers for my open house.

and after I got home I was surprised I had snuck into one of the promotional photos from the event on speedways Instagram.

While I was at speedway, we did find a semi-concerning problem with my front axle. more on that as I disassemble the front end to get a closer look.

Hopefully be back up and running for this Sunday.

Wash and repeat! Glad the new jetting set up is working out favorably.

  11. "...disassemble the front end and back together by Sunday..." I can't get a thermostat changed in less than a month and you're redoing a front end. LOL Glad you had an uneventful trip and hope the front end turns out to not be big deal

Lol pull the filter out of your shop vac and suck the antifreeze out of your top end, pull the thermostat and you’ll be done before you can say “where did I sit my phone?”

Or are you just baiting Joey and I to come down and help lol

LOL, after some peer review, I've decided to run it up to Omaha this weekend as is.

But that's cause instead of working on it I drove to Topeka last night (2+hours one way) to pick up a new (to me) display cabinet.

    Annnd we're back!

driving my car around a bunch more, and messing with the little stuff.

    even took some nice pictures.

I've also been making storage and organization happen for my open house.

As previously stated, I headed out on sunday afternoon to go to omaha,

and I stopped for gas at my usual place on the edge of town.

I left there, and drove 15-20 miles to my buddies house to stop and say hi, and the first words out of his mouth were "wheres your gas cap?"

    Shit.

I APARRENTLY left it on the trunk and its SOMEWHERE on the side of the road in a ditch.

But luckily my buddy Chris is a hoarder like me, and had a solution.

    A dipshit-proof cap.

I think its off a British car?

But before TOO long, I headed out, fully sealed up.

Let me tell you, i'm glad I went.

It was a perfect day, and people turned out.

this is only a portion of what was there, there was probably 50-60 old cars present.

I stayed late, cause I wanted to talk to everyone, and was rewarded by watching Erik and taylor rip on Erik's mean motor scooter.

But soon enough to sun was going down, and i needed to start my 2+ hour journey home.

A quick stop for some fuel..

    And I was rolling.

I didn't stop to get out till I got home.

The next day, I even drove it to work.

Hot rods doing hot rod stuff.
