My first serious car rebuild. Have owned several over the yearsbut always got rid of it within a few months due to the lack of mechanical knowledge. Am 62 years old, own a pest control company and hope to have my project complete within two more years, before I retire. My car is a 46 tudor that I am totally committed too. I've owned it two years. I bought three different 8BA flatheads and tore them down myself trying to find good cast iron to have one rebuilt. So I have a standard 8BA with a four inch crank. I had it professionally built by a company that builds race engines. I put it back in the car and wired the engine, it is to the point that the body is 80% ready to be primed. I found four nos fenders so that saved a lot of body work. This winter I had all the inside metal, dash, window moldings, windshield garnish etc. powder coated. An outfit in Erie Pa. did the work, and it turned out great, and very reasonable in about a weeks time. Just took the front seat to the upholsterer today. Was going to get a kit at Mac's but the kit alone was over $2000.00, This gal said she can do the material and labor about $450. (front seat) Many of my part's I needed came from E-Bay and the ford barn. I tried to communicate with the Ford barn gang to get my many questions answered, but since my car was'nt a 32 to 40 I was pretty much ignored. The posts are pretty much done by a i5 member clique that seem very happy just to joke back and forth. The swap site is worth it's weight in gold. Met very nice people there that really helped me get the parts I needed. I live in Sherman N.Y. which is 60 miles West of Buffalo N.Y. and 25 miles East of Erie Pa. As I said before, my future ride is a 46 Ford two door sedan and would like to hear from anyone with the same car and stage of completion. THank-You for taking your time to read my message.
