Event Coverage Just a little cruise night in the burbs of Detroit

So…my Falcon is on the road…thanks to some help from my friend Terry it’s on the road…I haven’t had a “Hot Rod” in a long time..had to remember skinny bias ply Pro Trac’s don’t handle high speed turns real well, shift kits “hit” a little harder on the up shift…no power steering and those tires again are fun maneuvering into a tight spot..but when the gas pedal is tapped and that little snorty small block comes to life…wooo…shake down run was an absolute success..no fluids puked, temp at a steady 180-190, perfect oil pressure, goes through the gears perfect, had to remember how to drive a car with a stall convertor..hit the brake and flash the converter and hang on..front end comes up, rear end goes down, and the smile appears..can’t wait for my Traction Masters to come in..anyway here’s some pics of what I saw tonight..

Falcon looks great, congratulations on getting it on the road. Sounds like you are really enjoying it too. What year is it as we got different body styles here in Australia? And thanks for the cruise pics.

 

Grew up in Redford, where was the cruise? Miss Michigan, except the nine months of winter.

 

It’s a 1965 Falcon Futura Model…289, Trick Flow Heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Custom Ground Comp Cam, 10.5:1, Holley 625 CFM carb, Dougs Headers, Powerstick mufflers dumped at the axle, going through a C4 with a shift kit and a combo valve body, 8” rear end with a Eaton Tru Track Differential, and 3:55 gear…straight spoke 5” American’s up front with Pro Tracs, and M&H Cheaters on the back, mounted to some chrome series 64 OE wheels..I tried to build it to the time period of the car..I don’t open the hood haha…it’s a fun little car..just need to get some more seat time.

Sounds great and looks great too. We never got V8 Falcons here until 1967 and our front and rear sheetmetal is different to the US models. You've got the best of it with the Futura coupe and the V8. Enjoy it.

Merri Bowl...5 mile Rd in Livonia..Westside Rod and Custom Club has been doing this Wednesday night cruise since I was a teenager, it’s moved locations several times, but still survives...my first home was in Redford, Mercedes Street..lived in Livonia for the last 28 years

and yep the weather can be challenging...but now in my 50’s time flys by so fast....kinda scary

 

9 months of winter? Did you live in the UP? lol...

 

I was at the Shady Characters, Wednesday night cruise at an auto parts store in Livonia a couple times when traveling through. That is where I was first introduced to Denise.

 

I'm putting this on the list, maybe next week we can make it over there. Looks like a great time with lots of cars!

 

Hit me up..I’m leaving for Florida till the 4th, but should be there most Wednesday’s thru the Summer..

BTW there were 3 Corvairs there last night..

Lived in Calumet for a couple years. Fall, winter, spring and the 4th of July.

 

I’ll do this weekly..there’s some cool stuff in the Motor City..When I see something cool I’ll throw it on this thread..I didn’t take too many pics..too busy flapping my gums…
