ah yes, the hard wheel explosion. those are always fun. I had one of those a long time ago, luckily it was at startup and I always stand to the side of spinning objects when I hit the ****on. BAM!.. that ****er hit the wall behind me with a great deal of force. I could have been seriously killed.
And down the Damn drive way! But back to the face sheild-one time I was using this huge wire brush wheel & that damn thing must have shot out 2389 wire brissels at me!The sheild I was wearing looked like I had pissed off a porcupine!
Nice one!!! I hope you remembered to write down all those Anderegg measurements and secrets I told you yesterday......ohhhhh yahhhhh thats right you were out cold....damn the luck. Dude, this coulda been so much worse.....bit yous is still ugleh.... We kid because we care.
Ouch! People might judge you now, but then again their probably not surprised to see Ol' George with a black eye.
neither have I till now, and I have been using a pedestal buffer set-up for twenty some-odd years. You hear about it happening to other people, and theres always this part of you that thinks, "never happened to me, wonder what the dumb*** did wrong." Well, you just never know when its gonna be your day. Like I just mentioned to Rick off-board, June 3, I had major surgery on my nose to correct a deviated septum that had been causing me health issues for years, if this had hit me in the nose, Man, I dont want to think about it. I would have been right back in the hospital. Get a face shield.
Hell, when I get to the point when I cant have a good laugh at my own expense, it's time to pack it in! Its Canada Day today, we are going to a big too-do at one of the local parks, My wife told me shes gonna have to take another guy, she doesn't want to be seen in public with me right now...
DOH!!!!!!!... You'll live!...... It'll be gone by Friday.. Looks like somebody clocked you good... Was it the wife????...
Oh, and to just keep this on topic its ok if he picks her up in a traditional hot rod.....or this thread and all its possible good will have been for not....
years ago i was at a plating shop, watching a guy buff a 33-34 ford grille for plating on a huge baldor buffer,he was leaning on that grille pretty hard, when it caught the grille, made 3 or 4 quick trips around it. cut that guy to shreds, we helped as much as we could ,ambulance came took him away.. when my parts were done he wasn't back yet.every time i get my buffer out ,,i think of that guy !
I tell everyone that the buffer is the most dangerous tool in the shop. I have a 3/4 hp Baldor that has tried to kill me on various occasions. Cheers, Allan
That looks great George, glad it wasn't worse. With my vision problems, getting seriously worse lately, I've been taking safety a lot more seriously.
Yep as we get older, safety gets more serious. My dad went to the firing range with his old Navy 22 target pistol, and just stuffed cotton in his ears... he blames this stupidity on his deafness now. He was probably 75 at the time, now he is 83 and can't hear worth **** even with $5000 Beltones. The worst thing is, I think the deafness has really contributed to his senility. When you can't hear well, you tend to just 'check out'. I always use hearing protection when I am grinding or doing anything loud. Kelvin
Oh jeez Don, that hasn't got better? Man, that aint good. afaulk, yes I agree. Or at least, I do now... Even with a face shield, that hit would probably have rung my bell. It was a HELL of a wallop. Knocked me flat on my ***, and I didnt even realize what had happened till I shook it off. Seriously guys, if you have a big 1/2-3/4 hp pedestal buffer, BE CAREFUL.
