It's been a couple of weeks since I put any progress pics up, so I guess it's time for another update on the Sedan build.

I got a bunch of stuff checked off on the honey-do-list over the holidays, so it should be clear sailing out in the garage from here....yea right!

The front end and rear end are pretty well bolted in place and all tacked together.

Nice work! You used a t bucket front perch, mounted upside down? I would have angled the front of the rear bars, closer to the center,to give the suspension some 'roll. The straight mounted ladder bars, will cause the car to "skate'around a corner. Ch***is guys correct me if I'm wrong. Not bad-mouthin' your work, just making an observation, from experence. I bet those coils will ride a lot better, than a transverse 'buggy'spring. Sparky

I came in from the garage after making some good progress one night, got all washed up and sat down for a few minutes. Looked at some magazines, watche dsome tube, and I had to go back in the garage for one more look.
Out came the tape, and the rest is history for that night.
I love it when it happens that way!!

5" off the top please and clean up the sides!

    First cuts and Top off.

The Posts and rest of the 5" cut off.

Top back on and ready for cut adjustments.

Ready for final cutting and welding.

Sliced rear corner on both sides of the chop. I've seen guys only do one side, but I've also seen it done this way and it seemed to work pretty well.

Tacked in place. Yea I'm a butcher, but it gets done!

Roughly finished. Still needs the post widths matched, but it should be ready for a couple of gallons of mud real soon.

Started on the seat frames and floors.
We'll see what we can get done this weekend after the World of Wheels Show in Boston tomorrow.

Seat frames. I will be using home built seat bases and one back that runs across both sides. I know I'll have a little more cushion than my PU has!

Sparky, I appreciate the advise and always listen to everyone cause I'm no expert at this. I just try to engineer stuff and if it works, I go from there. The experts will probably tell me it wont work.
The rear ladder bar setup is exactly the same as the one in my 33 PU which I have a bunch of miles on. It drives straight as an arrow, works good at the strip and doesn't roll in corners at all. It's like a go cart. maybe cause it's so low. This Sedan is ending up 49" at the highest point which is lower that my PU. Hey, if it doesn't work in this car, we'll change it!
But thanks for the advise. Keith

Looks good Keith! A 5" cut is a heck of a whack! I cut mine 3". I didn't do the shrinking slits,so I had to do (still do) some shrinking with a pick, and file. I see you are making a unibody out of it. Nice work on the interior bracing. Keep rockin' Sparky

zach, how about shooting me a cad copy. What format do you have it in? It's got to be better than the napkin I scanned and posted! Thanks

Yea Boones, I know what your saying. I see you guys posting your progress and I'm always getting ideas and motivation from them also. The guys that say there are too many Sedans being built are just jealous and wish they had one!!

LeadSled, that is very cool. Keep up the good work, its gonna be sweet! I turned your frame sketching from a previous post into CAD drawings. I might just use a modified version of your setup for my coupe. In the mean time, if anyone wants a copy of them let me know.

    I'll take a copy

keep it up, and keep posting pics. i'm saving em all and using them as inspiration.

  20. That sedan is looking good, I like it and I agree, keep the sedans coming, like'em as much as a coupe!

Fry, The body and frame are 4-1/2" off the ground in the front and the rear is 6".
The frame is actually 1/4" lower than the body all the way.
Nothing is going to hang below the frame, so I should be ok even with that wheelbase. I'll find out when I have to pull in the first driveway!

Looks great Keith. I confess, I am jealous of your progress. Can't wait to find out if all of my 6 feet and 2 inches will fit inside there.

Ive got 1 1/2" before the pan s****es. You may want to put a skidplate "downthere",just in case.p.s., you will get real friendly with the roadkill! Great build! Sparky

keith, couple questions.....is the floor bracing attached to the frame or the body? also, what the hell are those stubby square tubes at the bottom of the seat backs?
