So here is some build pics of my journey to build my 31 Ford coupe. It all started back in Dec of 14 when I decided to back away from my snowmobiling and off roading hobbies to get back to my car roots. Before this project I had no experience building a hot rod. But I did do a frame off restoration of my 68 RSSS396 Camaro in 1988. I also had built a custom bike back in the chopper craze of the mid 2000's. I painted them both besides a few other cars and own Tig and mig welders, milling machine and lathe beside most any hand or power tool. So I was pretty confident going into the build expecting it to probably be 2 years much like my Camaro restoration, lol well it took almost twice that time.
There were plenty of times I felt over whelmed and way in over my head. I made allot of mistakes redoing probably everything 3 or more times before fitting it right. Luckily I am hard headed and never gave up during all my failures along the way because for the most part it has come out just like I envisioned. What I shot for was a traditional 50's Hot Rod look, now I know around here that is a hot topic so maybe we will just say its a Traditional "like" Hot Rod or maybe even a vintage street rod lol. Honestly call it what ever you want I am not trying to pass it off as anything in particular.
I know there are allot of different directions these builds can go, but my vision was a flashy hot rod that probably a kid with money would build. Maybe this wasn't the norm but I have seen plenty of fancy hot rods in old pics.
so is a partial list of mods done,
3 inch chop, 1” channel, new 32 frame that narrowed in the front and hidden behind the grill shell, 1955 331 Hemi, Weiand Intake, Stromberg 97 carbs, S10 T5 transmission, 1950 Buick dash with SW gauges and modded 56 Pontiac gauges, winters V8 quick change. 1937 Ford truck rear window, modded International truck door handles, modded 1958 Mercury turn pike cruiser steering wheel. Rear bumpers were crafted from chopped and narrowed 68-73 rear corvette bumpers, Nicson boat front motor mount plate in conjunction with the 55-57 Chevy bellhousing that has rear motor mounts built in, 50 Pontiac tail lights modded with vintage glass trailer lens, front brakes are disc hidden within Buick style covers and ford style backing plates made by “Hotrod brakes”, rear are real Buick finned drums with finned wilson aluminum backing plates, 1936 ford trailing arms with the model A spring and cross member to clear the quick change, MG lever shocks, front and rear pan hard bars, rear sway bar modded from a Polaris RZR, Mopar steering box...........
    Hope you enjoy the pics!
    Dave

That is very very nice. How does it steer with that much weight up front? Does it steer with the throttle?

steers pretty easy with the 17" steering wheel even though it still has a quick ratio box

Actually I meant how does the steering act when you gas it?

So I hope to take the same car and make enough changes year to year so it has a different look.
I have a hood and partial sides along with custom headlights I grafted together from a 37 ford and a 36 Packard.
Also thinking of swapping black wall tires and possibly wire wheels. Then maybe every other year I can switch back and forth.
