Just another FNG here. Actually been peeking in the windows for awhile, checking out the interior. Well to make a short story long, my name is Rik and I'm a Ramblerholic. My current daily driver is a mild custom 64 Rambler Classic, shaved handles and trim, Krylon black until I can afford paint (or learn how to do it myself), running the stock Packard 287 V8 with the 327 four barrel manifold. Still need to finish the interior and have my head examined for owning one. I am truly hoping there may be someone out there with experince with these old AMC/Packard motors and tranny's because my next project on this car will be a motor/trans rebuild. 41 years of use and abuse require it. And of course I will have to delve into the deep dark realm of electrical. Thanks for any help in advance. rik will post pics as soon as I figure out how to downsize them to fit the format here...R
Thanks for the welcome....Still trying to get some pics cut down to fit the size restrictions, not to good at this computer thing yet...rik
If it has a Packard engine in it, than it's not stock. American Motors cars has motors made by, um... American Motors. The 287 wasn't a bad engine, neither. Cheers, Gwen Smith (Who, incidentially, drives a 64 Rambler Classic 4-door as her daily driver)
Actually Gwen Smith who incidentially drives a 64 Rambler and hasn't done her own intro, AMC DID at one time use Packard motors. It was an agreement between the Amc president and the Packard president in hopes of a merger. Amc was also known for purchasing parts from outside contractors in order to save costs on parts if they were deemed too expensive to fabricate in house. Welcome Rick, there are a lot of Rambler guys on board who will be able to tell you a lot more then I can. Neat lil cars, I've got my heart set on Brootals. xxx Brandy
