Hello every one. I have been meaning to post this for a while but have not had the time till now. So here is what I got- a 1930 Model A coupe. I bought this car off an old farm in South East Nebraska back is August of 2011. I got just the frame, body and ***le. It all fit in the bed of my pick up, so hauling it home was the easy part. On a side note I have wanted one of these cars for 20 years just never came across one in my price range. So I have had this picture in my head for a while now of how I wanted it to look. Should be interesting let the build begin!!!!

Awesome, it looks chopped already and a decent roof height too. Remember to post lots of pics long the way. Thanks for sharing.

Well got the car home and got it in the shop. Put the frame up on jack stands and I set the body down on it and started. The rear half of the body was pretty tore up. I spend many hours hammering and pulling out dents waiting for the new sheetmetal to arrive.

New sheet metal is installed and ruffed in. My buddy brought over a couple of front axles he had been hording along with a front spring. I spent hours on the hamb looking for information on what they where and what the best one was. I picked one and had new bushings installed and ordered king pins and spindles along with disk brake kit.

With the front end some what done. I scored a set of wheels and tires, from a guy in town. American racing wheels with ET street slicks in the back---- Score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now I move on to the back. I cleaned up and shortend a ford 9 inch that I have. Ordered the ladder bar and coil over suspension from speedway. I know a ladder bar will not ride as nice as a four link but like I the look of the ladder bar suspension. I ended up chopping the back of the frame and Z ing the frame to get the ride height I wanted.

Once I get everything mocked up and body work done I will pull the car all apart and finish all the welding and smooth out the rear frame. Then I will paint the frame and the body. Color is still undecided my wife and I are still argueing over the color-lol

Well after many years of this car sitting out in the trees on a farm in Nebraska its on its own wheels once again. With the car setting on its wheels I'm ready for a motor and ******. I maybe an old man out but around my neck of the woods everyone of the A's I have seen has a 350 chevy in it. So being the ford man I am I'm installing a 1984 5.0 with an AOD transmission. Motor will need rebuilt along with the ****** but I can use it for mock up and as stated earlier I will pull the car apart for finish welding and paint. I will go through the motor and ****** at this time.

Okay now currently I'm working on the floor frame, seating and with the help of fellow hamb member-ADV1 and Shinigami we got the floor framed out and placement of the seats figured out. With the chop that was done to the car before I got it, and being 6feet 4inchs, seat placement is of the upmost importance-lol. The boys also brought me my headers so I can figure out the steering and steering shafts. Thats currently where I'm at on my project.

I still have a long way to go with this car. I have built a lot of muscle cars over the years, but I must say this has been the hardest and the most rewarding car I have ever built. There have be many hours of head scratching and hours on the phone with ADV1 and Shinigami discussing how to fab parts or how to modify an existing part to fit.

I was told the chop was 4". The guy I got it from said his uncle chopped it in the 50's and had it as a hot rod till around 1955 then he parked it out back on the farm and it was slowly parted out till it was just a body and a frame.

  14. Nice job. Looks good so far.

    Congrats on the find.

Got the headers and extensions on today. I just love the look of the car with them headers. Once its all done I'm sure I will be burning my ankles for the frist couple times I get out of it.

What a turd.... j/k...about time you started a build thread! I had a blast out there last Saturday working on that floor! It was good for me to get my hands dirty again! And that trunk lid you and Al put together was simply amazing! What you guys did in a day would have taken my scroungy *** a Month!

It was great having you guys out an extra set of hands and ideas or two really help speed things up. I was going to tell you I junked the seats after I got them installed. They just didn't fit the look. Going with bomber seats they will fit the look better.

Nope not yet, thinking of building my own. It will match the rest of the car if I build them since nothing bolts on and everything needs modified to fit and work-lol
