Howdy folks! Been a lurker here for quite sometime, so I guess it's time to make that all-important intro post . I mean, I took the time to register and all .............. Anyway, my name is Tim Doty and I live in Rantoul, Illinois. I'm in the midst of trying to build a lakes modified from a '29 Tudor cowl .......... when working on other stuff doesn't get in the way. The days of the $25 Model A roadster might be long gone, but the days of a free '29 cowl aren't A buddy from the MetalMeet community gave me the cowl, and I've gotten some metalwork done on it ........... and gotten to the difficult part for me, laying out and building the frame. I'm using a '29 front axle and '41 steering box ............... that and some 2x4 square tube is about as far as I've gotten. Haven't even decided on power yet, probably a small block, maybe a 4 cylinder if I can find a cool looking one. Scounging for parts is a slow process around here .............. or I just don't know where to look. The rest of the body will be hand made, got me an English wheel and all that crap to work with. I have a couple of panels done in aluminum, but I'm thinking about starting over in steel. Anyway, there's my long-winded and rambling introduction ............... you might find long-winded and rambling to be somewhat of a trademark of mine : Tim D.
Hello Tim, Welcome to H.A.M.B. How much has your Model A project evolved since it was laying in the grass at Randy's a couple of years ago? I'll probably see you in Oblong this October. Larry
