Add a nice of duals, stiffen up the suspension a little and drive the wheels off! Looks just great as is!
wider rear tires and dual exhaust and that's it. only other thing i would consider doing might be putting a 460 in it. sweet ass car just like it is.
Well it's got factory duals... the exhaust is basically shot, so I am thinking of some more gutsy mufflers... glasspacks or something. I also really want to find a manual for the perfect circle speedostat, it doesn't seem to be working and it's a really cool and rare option.
By the pound, that's got to be the best car deal ever on the HAMB. Those late 50's Lincs are so ugly I love 'em so much. That's one heck of a score.
What a frickin boat man!! Love it...good for you. I think on those old girls, you don't steer them, you just point them !! Nice find, Cheers........
The only reason those boats didn't win the ugliest car competition was that the Edsel came out at the same time.
My dad just bought a 58 Convertible, probably the nicest 50's car he's ever had. Ground up resto, bought as part of a collection from an estate. Just recieved confirmation from Mamie Van Doren, yup the actress that she bought it new in Detroit in 58 , had it delivered to California and drove it for 5 years before moving on to the next big thing. Pops is pretty happy about this news.
Maybe Porters? I think on a barge like this, keeping it restrained until you really get on the loud pedal is good; the Porters on my Biscayne (292- straight 6 powered) are maybe a little loud for a big Lincoln. Talk to Porterman here on the HAMB if you're interested. Clark's a good dude.
My girlfriends father has a 60 convertable- he bought for a family car in 1963! Car is mostly original, complete and everything works. She says she gets it when he dies- her sister can have the 46 continental. Got to love a girl that wants a 60 Lincoln- especially as our first date she took me to the school bus races at a local track! They used the car for a daily driver thru the 80's, she remembers Mom picking her up from highschool in it. Beautiful car in its own way but drives like a wallowing pig with scary brakes by todays standards. Longest american production car ever made and unibody construction. Jim
Haven't really given the exhaust a lot of deep thought yet... did get a compression check done, looks like the engine is basically healthy, couple of cylinders are a few pounds low but nothing too terrible. Gotta get the tank flushed and sealed tho.. dang. There's a 60 convertible for sale in my town... for $34,900 which isn't too terrible.
It's ALIVE! It's on the road! It's going to Toys for Tots on Sunday! Who cares if it's cold.. it's got working heat
For some reason .....I like it . kool kar, need the skirts though . MY $.02 "AND THE BOWTIE ROLLS ON"
Wow - I thought my 57' Ford F100 was ugly until I seen the Lincoln. I love it! I have a thing for ugly stuff but please don't tell my wife unless you are big enough to pull her off me afterwards!
Runs pretty good too Trioxin, I'm told it was for ride improvement.... who knows, the 60s had the damned 2bbl carb too
A big Lincoln in Jersey...all you need is a Fedora hat and a pinstripe suit...you'd have the Sopranos jealous that you are taking over the territory! That has really turned out nice, congrats!
beautiful lines! A guy in town has a 4 door VERY rough he wants 3000 for it. Its LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG.
