  6. That car kicks sooooo much ass, its out of control! Love the slicks :)

  7. Bitchin!!!!

  8. Cool old custom. I in fact like old corvettes. I have owned a handfull of them and I do hate the stereo type corvette butt hole.

I am wondering about the top, I looks like maybe a lift off, carson type. It doesn't look like a stock soft top.

And yes the wheels look perfect, nice job.

I was hoping it was a real carson top, but its a aftermarket hardtop for a 58 vette that was padded and covered with a convertible top material, and the wrap around was filled with a square window instead of the wrap around to give it the carson look, never the less I still like it and think it fits the car

  10. Boooiiinggg man looks killer. Would love to see the faces of the "regulars" at most cruise nights when you roll up in that! Looks like something you would have seen on the cover of a Rodding and Restyling in 1961

Congrats, enjoy it! When it comes to vintage Vettes, I'm a purist, I like mine pure as snowflakes. In my eye, they were perfect out of the box. And that's all I got to say about that. :)

After messaging Carkiller here on the hamb and emailing Mike Brown, the guy my brother bought the car from, we found out the car was originally built by a guy named Whirl Jones in Omaha, Nebraska for another guy named Harlan Skeers. Mike Brown redid the car three times, as he owned it 30 years ago, and then again more recently prior to selling it to my brother mikey who is making it more period correct again! Apparently Whirl Jones had a shop in northern Omaha and also built the 57 Chevy that I am posting now for Roger Ryan, this 57 is still around with the same modifications just street rodded  Does anyone know anything about that car club plaque in the recent picture of the back end of that 57? Is that an old club the car belonged to? Or is it an existing club that current owner belongs to? It says Thunderheads of Omaha. Mike Brown said Roger Ryan and Harlan Skeers used to run around together back in the day with their cars, I wonder if they were in a car club together??

Last week Trent Sherril stopped by along with Richard Toonkel to take some pics of mikeys rides.

  15. That is a sweet little vette for sure.

I've always wanted an early vette, but I loathe "Corvette Guys", and in this imaginary world (where I own a 57 model) I'm always worried that someone will mistake me for a "Corvette Prick".

This would certainly be a way around that dilemma!

Thank you for the visual....I'll now adjust my fantasy accordingly.

Supersized, shame about what they did to that 57 Chevy, people don't know what they have.

Fatty, your 'vette is the coolest car I've seen in years, even if it does look like a catfish.

Who'd a thunk of putting a Mercury grille in a Corvette! Someone even put one in the '54 DeSoto I used to have!

  22. Ah yes the dreaded aftermarket hard top. I thougt the proportions looked like one of those.
    Still a cool old custom.

would be nice if he still had the original kustom interior for the 57, i like the car except for the back, its too stubby above the tail lights, shame its a streerod, but at least if some1 wanted to looks like it would be easy to put back

THe 57 Chevy has an intersting history. It fell off the transport truck when it was delivered to the dealership(brandnew). Was then customized in 57 or so. Don`t know when the taillights were added. Then it was painted green and shown again. The owner then died around the late 80`s(A rummer I heard that I won`t repeat)and the car left the area(Omaha) . The current owner tried tracking the car down and found a pic in a magazine (in the background). Ended up buying it and brought it back to life the way he wanted it. I`ll check into the Thunderheads in about 3 weeks. I`ll be at a meeting with members from about 25 other clubs from Omaha area.

Looks like Dennis O'Brien has the original pattern for the Thunderheads of Omaha so my guess is that they were around in the 50's or 60's.....

man I can dig the back end of the vette..looks pretty slick..almost speedracer mach 5 or whatever. .but that front end just reminds me of a kid that puts thier fingers in the sides of thier mouths and stretches it while showing thier teeth..amazing how the paint shined up..Good luck with it!

Here`s an early add for the aftermarket top. January 1955 HOT ROD.
