Nice score. Some day, maybe I to, will own a vintage trailer. Here's an interesting web-site for vintage airstreams. FAQ - www.vintageairstream.com/FAQ/FAQ_4.html
I have always loved those old Airstreams...and that one fits my bill just about right. ! Good for you..... Now fix it up to your desires, and enjoy! Cheers........
what's the correct rim going to be, mid 50's chevy? what type/grade of aluminum should I be looking for as a replacement for the skin on my 55 wanderer. I ask because, my understanding is the late model Airstreams are a different color/grade of a aluminum. dose anyone sell a bead roller to fit the profile of the endcap edges? I need to know how all these people replacing the endcap panels are making this bead.
Nice trailer, congrats and welcome! We LOVE our Spartan Manor, and have a ball pulling it with our old cars. Don't know about AS trailers, but ours is skinned with .040 Alclad, it's pure aluminum over the base alloy. You should join the Vintage Airstream group, "VAC", and there are several other great groups, including "Tin Can Tourists", which we belong to. "Vintage Trailer Supply" has tons of stuff you'll want to buy, and has the best prices on Nuvite polish and wool bonnets. The trailer is, truth be told, as much or more fun than ANY car we've ever had by itself, but with a cool cl***ic tow vehicle, it's a riot. Brian
Nice trailer! I have a 1947 Boles Aero. Just finished it. You will have a blast at vintage trailer ralleys, (hot rodders camping out,) also fun at hot rod events, Enjoy!
Brian, I have been meaning to ask you what your tow rig is set up like. That Spartan is a heavy mutha.
That's just too *****in'! Nice score. I always wanted to travel around in a vintage trailer. My folks bought a brand new Dalton "canned ham" style travel trailer in 1955 and towed it with a '49 Cadillac. We went everywhere with it when I was a kid. Good memories.
Nice trailer have fun. Skins look pretty good! I picked up a '54 Lakewood over a year ago and use it for camping all the time now.
