    Hey all,
Just joined the group. Hope I don't get thrown out but technicaly my truck is a Low Cab Forward. Its a 1957 LCF 5700. Just started on the project. Making it a crew cab to pull a 5th wheel camper. Wife wanted a new 5th wheel camper and I told her she could get one if I could built a truck. So far I have got the body about off whats left of the frame and purchased a 2003 GMC W4500 for the ch***is and running gear. I look at it this way, I am already 75% done with the project just bu getting the late model ch***is. Wife wants it done by spring. I was resorting my 59 chevy NAPCO 4x4 but now it is on hold. Guess I am lucky that my wife is telling me to work on the trucks. Some people have the oposite problem. Here is a link to my web shots. Check back in the near future for updates.

Welcome Shane. Going to be a neat LCF. I don't think antbody will object to your truck as long as you post alot during the build. That means pictures too!!!!

    Shane,

Nice project! What a cool looking truck. I never noticed before that this is sort of a cross between a cabover and a conventional. I'm doing something for a similar use with a 41 Ford COE. I need to make it confortable enough for NH to Florida trips with the boat in tow. (not a 5th wheel, but towing). What will be behind this new rig?

Check out my webshots. I cut the cabs apart today and am starting to put them together.

Nice progress! Yeah, I meant what was getting towed behind your new rig... What's the deal on the rear doors? Was cab number 2 the same as cab number 1 and you've modified the doors to rectangular versions for the rear?

The cab was off a regular 55-59 truck. There was never a 55-59 crewcab so there are no rear doors in existence. The cabs get narrower at the front so the doors shape changes as it goes forward. I had to cut apart a couple doors to get the correct shape. and then slice and dice to get the body lines just right. My goal is to have it look like it came from the factory this way. I have seen other crewcab conversions that they just used the door as is and it looked funny in my opinion.

Well, it certainly looks great! I am undecided on 4 doors vs extended cab at this point. If I did 4 doors, I was thinking regular cab pickup turned backwards for suicide doors. I think the doors on a regular 41-47 pickup are pretty much rectangular like your nicely reworked units.

55-59 chevy trucks have the oddest shaped doors. I think you would have an easier go at it with your style doors.
