Just My Thoughts About The HAMB

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BBobb, Dec 2, 2008.

  1. Yeah I heard we have that now in recruit training, they hold up a red card when they feel threatened.
Of course, you know they stop bullets on the battlefield too. Yup, WTF!!

I am noticing a theme here depending on ones background. Some of us are from a 'Harsher reality' than others so its 'par for the course' to be somewhat more direct, others have lead a more genteel life. Not that there is anything wrong with that, its just that we are products of our environment.
I make no apologies for the way I am. Im happy, if your not dont let the door slap you on the **** on the way out.
Just take it all in your stride.

    You are missing the point.

I'm not worried about anybody getting his little feelings hurt.

I just think that a Mob Mentallity isnt a very presice tool.

    Oh... and one more thing...

    Shut up Newbie.

  3. Now that's the sentiment I was looking for...and damn funny at that!:D

    The alleged real scoop...
I cannot even imagine Master Sergeant Eaton's response to something like that! He had earned his CIB in three wars, the first in Germany when he was 18 years and 10 days old...I can, though, imagine my efforts to remove the thing from deeep in a nostril...
Two thoughts: Training here somehow works. No two HAMBers, probably, could get far in discussing "what is traditional?" without violence erupting...but somehow there is a working consensus that works to maintain real identiy in the mud-bog between the ratrodders and the streetrodders and the muclecar geeks.
And...from much reading and from conversations with actual scarred veterans, the actual route to greater effectiveness AND greater chance for survival in war, get over to Guerrilla warfare/Rangers/SF/Recon, because there you fight with intelligence rather than being sent headlong against a foe with the same plan and skills you have.

Some thing I like to watch is the evolution of a member from "hey where d' rat rods at" to "I have a Model A that I really want to be a stunner..." or "thanks to_____ I was able to cage in a transmission that will allow me to drive my car anywhere, check this out..." Pride. Thats cool to watch the light come on, no posturing, wrenches, welders, drivetrains and understanding that makes these cars and owners able to get together with other members.

All the rest, its just part of it to me. I like to razz people as much as the next guy, when you get you get a real insect on the hook you can't help but slap them around a little. I enjoy it myself, I'll give as good as I get, as long as no one really gets mad then its gone too far. There used to be a shame to losing your temper, wit is so much more fun even on the **** end. Ironically, most folks with wit instead of impulse, get things done. Funny. I used to have a bully steal my desert in school sometimes. I calmly let him eat it, never put up a fuss. One day when he wasn't expecting it I calmly put a fork clear through his hand and pinned it to the table. A smile, and I told him he could keep the fork. Had a smile for him every time I saw him. By high school we got to be friends, played football together.

  8. Im sorry old man, do you want me to shout so you can hear me??:p

I agree with the mob rules statement but sometimes people deserve what they get, though Im not going to apologize for some of my comments. Anywho....... Im not even sure what Im trying to say......

    On a completely different note....

I was ineligable for the ICB (Infantry Combat Badge) our version of the CIB, I was technicaly never out of Medical Corps whils serving in SF so everyone else got on but not me. But hey.....
Im proud to have earned the medals I did,
    ASM, Australian Service Medal.
AASM, Australian Active Service Medal (Replaced ASM)
    ICAT, International Coalition Against Terror,
SpecOps (Iraq, Afghanistan & 2 bars.), Special Operations, 4 separate conflicts, the two bars are for cl***ified operations.
NATO ISAF (Afghanistan & Iraq) NATO International Security ***istance Force.
UNAMIR, United Nations ***istance Mission for Rwanda.
UNOMSIL, United Nations Observer Mission in Sierra Leone.
UNOSOM II, United Nations Operation In Somalia II.
    US Presidential Citation Cl*** Three.
Not that I have the ****ers anymore, poor judgment there!
SF service is not for everyone but if you cant take recruit training for the love of god get out before its too late! What we did/do is harsh and if words can hurt you what the hell is someone trying to kill you going to do?
Man did this get O/T!? But **** it, I am PROUD of what I did. I'll shut up now.

    Doc.

In fact if you ever ran across a Delta at large, you would have no idea from how they comport themselves. No macho tough guy ****, just a smile and pop you're gone, really gone where no one will ever find you.

  10. That is so true, while on the job its not something you talk about. I was out of the Army 12 months before my family learned what I did for the previous 10 years.

This is without a doubt the first place to ask a question if you're looking to get a real, solid, reliable answer, as well as an open (and mostly :) ) intelligent discussion on the various ways out there to get it done.

    LOL!

Before I came here, I didn't even have the sense to not wear the "I'm with Stupid" T-Shirt with the arrow pointing up. Now I'm a state senator!

You're gonna have differences of opinion when there's tens of thousands of members. But if you didn't read and take head of 'the rules' you deserve what you get. I too thought that I was fairly experienced and knowledgeable before I joined the HAMB (LOL).
