Thought I might share my latest addition to the shop. Just picked this up. This 49 Ford coupe shoebox is virtually unmolested. I feel very lucky to have gotten it. Too the 2 HAMB brothers that made this happen, you know who you are. Thanks so much.

Looks like a really nice car.

I've been thinking more and more about moving my Dart looking for a shoe box Ford or Merc.

Thumbs up Grump. The 49 is all origianl, 72,000 miles. Has the origianl 100 horse flattie and the 3 on the tree to back it up. Next week it's going to a flattie mach I know and the engine is going to be gone thru top to bottom so it can survive another generation.

I feel I was very lucky. A fellow Hamber found it in Clifton Ks. The son of the owner kept the car and really isn't into cars so he let it go. I knew the car had been picked up by this Hamber. We talked, he had a direction he was going with his present project, so we made the deal. Worked out great, he got some well deserved $$$$ and I got a great car.;)

Great Score! The body looks to be in amazing shape! Glad to hear you're having the flattie completely gone through to keep her going for many years to come!

First thing is to go thru engine and mechanical, going to be a daily driver. Want to keep it basically original. Main plans are, fenderskirts, lowering blocks, wide whites, scuff and seal paint, pinstrip.

  29. My sister had a boyfriend, back in the early sixtie's, that had a black '49 coupe. basicly stock except that he had dumped the front and was runnin' triple outlet lake pipes and six scavenger pipes. Man, that "flattie" would come to life when he uncapped everything! Whenever I think of a "shoebox" his car alway's come's to mind...
