  1. Sorry for my ignorance. What's poverty cap? Is that just the center? I was looking at spider caps.

Couple opinions, but that's it. I love painted wheels with '61 Ford poverties, or '56 poverties. I have a '52 coupe. Seems the literature called them Club Coupes, or Business Coupes. Club Coupes had a back seat, and I believe roll down quarter windows... The Business Coupe, or Salesman's Coupe had a raised platform where the seat would be, and non-working quarter windows. Mine is a Business Coupe.

My friends say I'm weird, and I can't argue the point, but when I have something that a relative wants (with the exception of you-know-who) I simply give it to them. Nothing is as valuable as my relatives and friends, and the older I get, the more I realize this !!! I'm 78, broke, and happy as the proverbial pig !!!

  5. Oh cool. Well that makes this a club coupe for sure. Thanks for the info.
I'll add those caps to my hunt list. What are you different types of rims, it seems like some caps won't fit certain wheels and that makes it hard to locate parts that will work.

  6. Yeah it was a big throne in my side knowing her grandpa would have wanted it handled different and it turned into all money for the family. That made me want it more. Adds to the story and makes us appreciate it more.

  7. The more I get my hands on the car the more I find that's not as good as it appears. I've accumulated a list of really bad wiring which is to be repaired in the near future. Wiring is something I nerd out on so I'm looking forward to that.
A few spots I'd rust rot under the car. It's the small braces that support the floor to the rocker area. Then I also found a fiberglass Bondo handy work job on the front rh 1/4. Over all the paint is not the best work. There are several spot that were missed while wet sanding and some spots not sprayed complete. All in all this is fine by me because I won't feel bad when the day comes that I cut into it and in the meantime I won't feel bad driving the shit out of it

On the poverties, I always watch ebay and facebook marketplace, although I quit facebook many moons back. I think my brother has bought a couple sets of 61's and I might have a a set of 56's. As to wheels, your should be okay, but skinny. Early Ford wheels have the bumps for caps, like yours... If my '52 was as clean as you '53, we'd both be tickled pink !! 1952 Ford.jpg

  9. Thanks! Yeah I don't do social media for the past few years. I'm hunting on eBay and on here but for the fun factor I'm taking my daughter to the bone yard to hunt for parts one of these upcoming weekends.
That visor is bad ass. I'm looking for one of those also.

Here are a couple ideas to bounce around. I like being different, so don't laugh.... The Corvette has Edsel dogdishes.. The '66 had stock '66 dogdishes. The others are '56 and '61... moreira corvette.jpg 66 Ford 002.jpg 56 dogdish.jpg 61 dogdish.jpg

In the top pic, it looks like you have 2 different sizes main jets. If the numbers are different, make them the same.
Check the diaphragm on the distributor before you start tuning; if it won't hold a vacuum, replace it.
Make sure your rebuild kit has parts that will tolerate ethanol. I like wheels with trim rings and "baby moon" caps.

  12. Yeah I'm going to go through the distributor when I go through the wiring soon. For now I know it delivering fuel. I'll do the final tunes and tweaks before I take it out of the shop.
The main jets are both 50s but the jets in the pic that look different are the jets in the accel squirters. Idk what they are called. I was calling them accelerator jets.

  13. Oh man I'm about the 55 Ford caps. Those things are awesome.

If your choke cable is bad I have a spare for a '53 I can sell you for cheap

  15. Really, is it straight on the end? I'm going to attempt straightening mine. It looks like the choke was stuck and they tried to jam it closed and bent the cable.

  16. I pulled it out in the drive and spun.it around so I could check the distributor advance and set the carb. Settled on 3/4 turn out from all the way in on the idle adjustment. Only think is I have the idle screw ALL the way in to get it to idle. But it runs really good that way so for now I'm going with it until.i.sort the rest out.
Anywho, as I was turning it around the brake popped free hallelujah. So the family all hopped in the bench seat and went a took a few laps around town.

Now.i just need to pull the brakes apart and run through them and sort out the electrical.

I just dug it out and looked at it closer. It's actually the Air pull cable I have a spare of, not the Choke.

  20. Perhaps it has de-arched springs? Car is looking great and you are making a lot of progress in a short period of time. Keep it up, I'm following along.

I like the dog dish or Olds caps. Either would work for me.

  23. I've looked on eBay and the only ones I find are too far gone or way expensive. I'm going to hunt at the junk yard when I go in a few weeks. I'm going to keep a set of hub caps too so I can change them out. Easy style change. I'm trying to be able to get into a pre 65 traditional show in April so I need to meet the criteria of a kustom. So I need 2 modifications. A cool set of hub caps, lowered, skirts, and dual exhaust is my goal. If I can find a grill that would be nice too.

I have a set of those Olds caps on my wall that I don’t need if you need a set...

Yes poverty caps, aka dog dish. Similar to your first photoshop.

But now that I've seen your photoshop efforts I'm really digging the last one with teh Ford full covers!

  26. That's where I'm leaning. I liked the poverty caps at first but I had looked for about 3 hours in eBay at any and all hubcaps and those were the two that stood out. I found the Ford fulls on here and the olds on eBay. I liked the olds better but the fords really look good on there. The white centers with spoke looking lines really pop.

  27. What do you want for them? I'm on the fence leaning towards the full cover forda after I photo shopped them but maybe I'll buy 2 sets

That is almost the exact same measurement I got on my '53 sat before I lowered it. It's just stock springs that are worn out. Aerostar springs in the front and 2 inch blocks in the back will have it looking really good.

  30. Awesome, thanks! That's exactly what I needed to hear. And that's exactly my plan.
Did you just buy stock Ford aerostar coils? Not lowering ones? Also did you do aftermarket shocks and camber adjustment? I seen that in a kit on shoebox central.
