That thing has a great look to it. What a nice find:). The photo of the baby grabbing ahold of the header tubes bothers me.....

nice. I dont think this little jewel could have fallen into better hands, And it sounds like the P.O. feels the same way.
I hope when you decide to pass it along you are as discriminating withe the prospective buyers. :D

    WOW...resized pics work great (lol).

So, while I was thinking about buying the "T" and waiting for the seller to call me.... I dug out some old magazines. Mainly, the 70's look really put me off (to the point where I almost passed). So, I decided to see what "Mainstream car magazine" styles looked like in 1959/60....through 1970.

I was surprised to see what a 1963-1967 T bucket REALLY looked like. Mind you, with magazine lead times.... a 1965 magazine car would likely have been built at least 6 months before (if not a year or 2 earlier). I do doubt that many 4-5 year old cars were featured though, as it seems most builders "remodeled" their cars yearly back then!

The R&C T bucket is almost a twin! The wheels/ tires, exhaust, etc... are obviously very different. But the stance, profile and "look" are really close!

The $1399.83 article is from the 3 ring binder the original builder gave me...and the actual article the guy used as a basis to build his/my "T".

I love cool old stuff!

One of my HS buddies was re-aquainted with a t-bucket that he built in HS thanks to his wife and son . The car was basicly unchanged in 40 years . You're very fortunate to have found this diamond in the rough. Here's a clip of him recieving it at the SoCal speedshop open house . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaX4DPL2dKo

The number T's that were started off that article probably number in the thousands including the one I had.

Boy Howdy, I like the overall look of that little T. The original builder nailed it.

    Philly the Greek:

Man, that is really cool that your buddy got his car back!!!! Cool video! Seems like a cool guy and he must have a helluva family to go through all of that to surprise him with his old T!

Hopefully my boys will have lots of good memories growing up around old cars and Hot Rods just like I did!

Thanks Mr 48 Chevy. I am really glad I got it. Especially considering how on the fence I was during the "waiting period" we all go through when we let things work themselves out. The color combo, proportions, stance, build quality and sum of it's parts were what got me invested enough to really commit to getting this thing from the guy.

Here's some pics I was trying to post that he had hanging on the wall (Northwest racing from the late 50's early 60's)

    Nice ramp truck.
Can't wait to see some good pics of it all cleaned up and hopefully sporting a set of Americans and slicks.

At this point I am debating blowing the car completely apart and going through everything..... or cleaning it up and having some fun as is.
I have 3 cars ahead of it that need attention (none of them "Hamb friendly"), so I better get a-movin!

Life is short....clean it up and drive it. It's just as much fun now as it would be if it were perfect.

I will definitely try to get her on the road this Summer for some fun!!! The entire car was disassembled for nearly 40 years... so it'll be like when I was 10 years old....opening that "Big T" model kit for the first time...... (^^Raaaaaahhhh^^...shaft of light ). The seller kinda reassembled it.. so for safety sake...I'll probably take it all back apart and make sure she's good to go (be a bummer if he left something vital out)

Looking for a decent pair of 10" or so wide Torque thrust or knock off 5 spokes for the back.. 5 on 5.5 Early Ford bolt pattern....... to put her back to the 1968 look!

Finally got a chance to mess with a T a little bit. Looks like I have a bit of a laundry list....

Anyone have a decent pair of Torque thrust "Style" mags they are willing to part with? Early Ford bolt pattern (5 x 5 1/2). I would prefer at least 8"....but need 10" wide. I would like 16's.....but 15's would work. Also.... what tires would look good? I would LOVE to run slicks... vintage type repros.....

I want to return the car to 1967/ 1968 configuration.

Your front wheels may be Hallcrafters

  18. Now THAT would be a good looking ramp truck!! But...what is the load rating on slicks??

The Magnesium American's are NICE... but not in my budget (unless I kept them seperate from the car long term). They are rare and 16"......

Are the M&H tires REALLY $304.00 a PAIR or $304 EACH and you must buy 2?

Front wheels....I have no idea. They are 19". They look like early British car to me (they have knock off threads). The story (yeah..stories) is that they came off of one of Jerry Ruth's cars back in the 60's when the P.O. bought them. He said he knew most of those guys... but took it with a grain of salt.

Slicks are $304 EACH....makes sense. Might grab them...but want Vintage looking slicks. No pie crust though. Anyone know who make "Squared off" vintage style slicks? Mid to late 60's style?

I found a REALLY nice pair of 15x10 Torque Thrusts from a buddy CHEAP.... but they are later ford 5x4 1/2....bummer.

Can anyone identify those front wire wheels? They are 19" with threads for knock off spinners.

    Thanks.

Did Hallcraft have a threaded center for Knock off hubs? Just trying to figure out what they are.

The previous owner/ builder told me that the rears are Ansen. They are 16".

Front wheels were purchased "USED" around 1967/ 1968 by previous owner from a Drag Racer friend in the Seattle area..... They are in the pics from 67/68 and in the '69 pic in front of the 1 year old 1968 Mustang the previous owner bought new.

    Here's the back side.

So far the concensus on the front wire wheels are Early Harley Davidson Side car hubs built up.

That T is plain bitching.. Awesome find. I'm glad to hear the original builder told the guy to kick rocks after hearing he'd toss the '39 top-loader for an auto! That would be downright criminal.

Did the early Hedman headers in one of the first pictures come with the car? The ones mounted on the engine in this picture..

    Thanks.

No... I am sure those headers are long gone.

Personally, I like the headers in the pics from around 1967 (with the little kid behind the wheel).

As far as I know M&H is the only one offering the later style vintage slicks.
But only the "nostilagia" ones for vintage F.E.D.'s in 16" and the "vintage" for stock/super stock in 14". But nothing in 15" as far as a true vintage look.
If they started putting "Race Master" on the sidewall of there regular 15" slicks(it looks like it on there web page. But I havnt seen them in person.) you could "pen" the letters in with white and they would be the best looking "modern" slick.

A different and awesome 60's look would be a set of these.............
