Most folks that read my threads know I don't like to disparage other peoples work, But this is just wrong,..... I see a T-Bucket project on a trailer pull in at the Midland Michigan swap meet,... my son and I go to take a look.

This project looked OK at first glance, then I take a close look at the work, frame itself looked pretty good, new speedway body, then I look at the rear suspension,..... This was just plain dangerous! I don't know what size tubing this guy used but it was to thin, then I get a load of his "Clevises" they were just a bolt with two tabs welded to it,..... and you should have seen the welds !

I know guys that put together rollers to sell and make some extra money at it, but in good conscious how in the world can this guy sell this to somebody !,..... I truly hope this guy isn't a HAMber, and if he is he needs to do some serious soul searching IMHO,....... they wanted $1,400. bucks for it.

Maybe that was just for mock up (?). I'm surprised none of those welds broke from just the trailering.

Those are not welds Jeez that is some scary shit.Rusty metal, plated bolt , mig welder in the hands of someone who can't weld = disaster.

looks just tacked together to me. even the biggest shithead in the world is not going to think that is enough weld to drive with.

Ugh...people need to just walk away from building cars at that point (and anything else for that matter)...I'm so disappointed that someone thinks those clevis' are pretty clever...

  9. Surely its ALL just for mock up? Even the splatter (not worthy of being called a weld) on the rear end brackets has gotta be just so it sits on the trailer looking like a "roller" dosen't it? please? :(

Dennis, I saw that and wondered if the guy was trying to kill someone. There was no one around when I walked by so I didn't get a chance to display my award winning personality and ask some pointed questions about the build.

I think you're being harsh. Sure they are crap welds but from the pics it just looks like mock up to me. I HOPE.

Perhaps those radius rods are electrical conduit?! I heard a fella asking "where to find that thick wall conduit you guys use because all the ones I made before curled up right away even though I put those brace plates between them so I had to use some pipe I found at the scrapyard and they haven't bent so far?" as he stood next to his pride and joy T roadster at local Houston event some 20+ years ago.

  15. not seeing the whole car, from the pics it looks like everything is tacked in place. If you know what you're doing, you offer 500.00, pointing out the obvious flaws. If you see it as a done roller... maybe you better find somebody that knows something. I'm not against being my brothers keeper, but I sure as hell ain't gonna carry him thru his fantasy hotrod period.

  16. Tacked together or not, it's pretty cheap. $500? Riiiiight. Have a nice day.

Let's face it, it's a lot easier to sell a roller than it is to sell something with no rearend in it. Someone tacked it together to make it more attractive to sell because so many people are too stupid to be able to picture it as a roller if you don't spoon feed it to them. The problem becomes when that same moron buys it and thinks this work is safe to run. But from the looks of it I'm not sure it would last long enough to make it out of a driveway, and maybe that's the idea.

Mockup? We all know that this was done by somebody who doesn't know anything and thinks it is street ready and will be bought likely by someone who doesn't know anything and will likely not listen to someone, anyone, who does know something because that would be admitting they don't know anything and no new hotrodder can ever do that so... yada yada yada... life goes on.

We've all seen this garbage before at swap meets and car shows and in friend's garages and although this is an extremely bad example some of that kind of junk goes down the road and to our utter amazement doesn't break. Scary, ain't it?

so long as it kills the builder before it leaves the driveway... darwin award winner for sure

  21. With the economy the way it is, maybe he'd like to eat for a little while, as opposed to staring at it on the trailer. He wants to sell. Doesn't mean I have to buy. I'm just judging by what I saw. And what I saw was shit...
now that you mention it....$500 might be too high for shit.

  22. Yew sedd it Buddy! Luv me them thur ratrodz!

  23. Well, a bare frame kit from Speedway with nothing on it but a spring perch starts at $300 and a bare body with a bed for $650. Forget about the shit job on the rearend install, and there's still close to $1000 in parts on it just in the bare body and frame. More, if the body has the opening door, it has a grille, etc etc etc. Plus if you buy it new you'll be paying who knows how much more to have the stuff shipped truck freight to your dooryard. So $1500 isn't that unreasonable for what you get. Not only that, the same catalog you can order up a whole new rear suspension kit for it for a couple hundred bucks and make it as safe as your own skills will allow.

Some of you guys kill me, it must be nice to live in a world where it's still like 1969 or so.

im sure it is just to get it moving around.most poeple dont have much imagination like myself.i cant think it up but i can look at something and make it better.with the economy so bad{i have been layed off for 5 months}alot of people are trying to make some extra money selling stuff that they dont need.for what he is asking i dont think its a bad deal.how many people out there looking for a project can just pick up a car with no suspension on it?

in that last picture the "weld" for a lack of a better word , wasn't hot enough and wasn't in the joint. I have to think this is all just mock up junk, nobody in their right mind would try and drive a death trap like this.

Yea Denny I saw it there also Sat. When I looked at the welds I thru up in my mouth a little.......

  28. I agree for the money, what was there would have been a good start. I have never just bought something and decided it was ready to bolt on or run, and if you do and it fails, then you ignored safety or didn't know enough to know any better, which is a crime in of itself. I feel that, without talking to the seller, it looks as though he had it mocked up and if someone buys that, then thinks its ready to roll is ignorant and ignorance will hurt you and or kill you...
