  3. If, and If, and If.. again some of you guys kill me. Show me where I can buy a dozen just like it for $500 each, so I can clean them up, put some real welds on them, and flip them for a lot more money, then.

I sure hope who ever buys it takes enough time to look it over before driving it.

I know it's his car, and I agree that everyone is entitled to their own taste. and I am no one to judge... but damn.. this is why some people should just pay someone to build their car.. I did notice he had his mullet in a pony tail, that was nice.....

  10. What a piece of ...sh...trash. That garbage could even give ratrodding a bad(er) name. No skill, no taste, no engineering, no way I ever want to see that again.

  11. Exactly, stand-up Jet Skis kickass period. Sit-down skis are gay. But nothing on topic about them here. I hope the genious was just joking because if not he is missing out.

This is one of the worst trash-rods I have seen. My first thought was how the hell did the welds not break while loading this heap. There is just about no penetration in those welds that I can see. Coulda just JB welded the thing and it would have looked stronger then these welds.-Weeks

If it was just for mock-up to get the idea i couldent see them taking the time to put jam nuts on whatever the hell you want to call those. Thats some scary stuff:eek:

Ten years ago I built a little fun car, in the third world, and I temporarily hacked the home made rear ladder bars on with a 5/8" UNC nut solidly welded to the side of the frame rail, and cut the bolts off so they didn't bottom out when I cinched it down through the rubber bush of the ladder bar. I did a few miles testing the general operation of the car, it never fell apart.

I then had to quickly sell it, moving overseas, and sold the car with a written list of things that needed urgent attention, before it was used for real.

I saw the same car in some photos a few months ago, and those ladder bars are still just like that! The guys has done several thousand miles with them fixed into a welded on nut! It 'only' has a 305 SBC in it, with a hi-rise on, but that is still plenty torquey.

Here's the temporary hack job. That is not a threaded boss, welded into the chassis rail, but just a steel nut:

And after I put some paint on:

I still cringe when I think about driving that car like that, especially the couple of times I took it down the drag strip. :(

it to me looks like a night before mock up job. if not then its "builders...or cobblers" like these that are going to get home built cars banned. there's tons of cars around my way that look that bad driving around just waiting to kill themselves or someone else. but again....this looks to me like a quick "for the show" roller. I'm waiting on the day when someone dies and the book gets thrown at home automotive builders...........that's why i urge guys who don't know how to properly structurally weld to at least get a buddy thats been welding for a while or a certified welder to do the important parts.

I can hear the sales pitch now!!!!

Yep, that is the beauty of building a RAT ROD, you can just throw them to-gether and blow away the high dollar street rods away at all the shows, everyone will come and look at your rat rod. Just look at the penetration on them welds you dont even have to weld onto the whole bracket.
