When posting this:... LOOS'EN THE INSPIRATION. Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 34Larry, Monday at 1:18 PM. last Monday I was greatly humbled by the response and support that came my way, from this post. This is a follow up, asked for by some who responded so kindly and caringly. I have related through the recent years how a neighbor, a retired high school auto shop teacher came to my rescue like the, Chip Foose bunch, in the summer of 2017, and put my car on the road. Well with all the recent gains in the Covid stuff, we got back out to breakfast yesterday with him and his wife. He/his wife are our back yard neighbors, two doors down to the west. He and I often entertain all the neighbors with top fuel like cackling contests, LOL,. He has been really hammering on a '54 Chef. Bel Air all winter and so I was really reluctant to touch bases with him for help. Well, he scolded me about that and is coming over next Tuesday and once again coming to my rescue. I will not dwell on the negative and just say, with all your encouragement and reengaging with a little mechanical work on the Ford and with Jim's help, times seem damned near normal and the inspiration is returning again.
Outstanding to see this follow-up.... There's always going to be times when we need to ask for HELP!! dyno dave
Heck Larry, we all fall into a funk, you have 20 + years on me, some days I don’t feel like changing oil
Hey Larry, That's great news...not only about the '34, but your brighter outlook as well. The HAMB can be quite therapeutic...and we make a pretty good "support group", for a bunch of hoodlums.
Oh NO! Two old geezers resurrecting their cacklefest! There goes the neighborhood. That's really good news Larry. It's nice when a friend and neighbor lends a hand and you can spend some time with someone you can trust to help keep your goal alive. It also gives you a chance to kick HIS (project) tires and spend a little quality BS time. Glad to hear of this turn of events!
When I read your original post it really touched home with me, as I have had a rough year as well. I wanted to reach out to you but I didn't know what to say. The way all the members rallied around you is inspiring. So good to hear that things are getting better. Soon you will be cruising in style with a renewed spirit.
Well spanners my little jewel is not all that HAMB friendly with the jag IRS/IFS so I'll send a PM with pic's if that alright.
Jags are pre '65 aren't they? It wouldn't worry me one bit but some on here get a little precious so just enjoy your tinkering.
Can we nickname you Lazarus instead? You will be surprised how contagious and encouraging your resurrection story is to the rest of us. There is always a glimmer of hope, like a dying ember, that with some encouraging word or action can be gently returned to its prior self. Hats off to the guys on here and your old friend for bringing the revival.
@34Larry , I didn't see your previous post. Had no idea. If I did, I would have been there for you. Here now, though. What can I say? Main thing, God bless your wife. And God bless you. And... everything is better when it's shared. Stay and share with us... even if you're not building anything. But I hope you can and I hope you do... if that's what you want. And... yes... Vive Le HAMB. ... for all the reasons.
God bless your neighbor & you !!! GR8 news.....keep on keep'n on, and like i say, pray all the way.....
Very good to hear you've turned a corner! I don't even know you, and your first post had me worried, lol. Get that car goin! Cheers!
Oh wow, that would be a bit to much, along with the compliment included comparison, (Lazarus' I mean). I'm just an old man that let things get to him, and got wonderful help from like minded guys around the world and a close friend and neighbor. I'll always be deeply indebted to those who gave advise to and for me, and to Jim for being here for me. Wife's condition continues down hill almost on a daily basis now, and with that I know dark days lie ahead so I gotta get prepared to meet that challenge, along with help from her daughter who stops by daily and my two daughters. Those here who have said theyhave had to face that challenge, (God Bless Them), also know how hard it is to witness a loved one slowly slip away. My oldest daughter, (60), tells me all the time, (" things happen for reasons we don't understand". I Got to believe her. Now its out to the shop to fire up the heater, its snowing here, so I can find that damned hot lead so's Jim and I can fire this thing up tomorw.
My next door neighbor is not mechanical at all, but comes over to check my progress and to encourage me, or give a strong back type of help where needed. Amazing how much difference it makes on my motivation , have to stay on it just so I can show some progress.
There are times when life becomes overwhelming with all sorts of trials & tribulations and we need to stay positive for our own mental health and our loved ones around us, we never have to look far to see others with their lives in more shambles than our own. God is in control my friend, just put your faith in his hands. HRP
An update. Not to belabor all this, but the Hemi fired yesterday with great help from my real good fiend and bud. Still some misc. stuff to get complete but it feels soooooooooooooooo good.
