Is it my imagination or are there more 50-56 cars than 57-59 cars? This is just my observation from pics and descriptions. Mike
Not your imagination, but you do realize you're comparing a 7-year span to a 3-year span. That said, 58 was a down year for all the manufacturers, and maybe 59 as well. 57 was probably the best year of that decade sales-wise, just my guess.
Yes, that makes sense, just was thinking out loud and making an observation. Did that many 57-59 end up as parts or s****? If Ford outsold chevy in 57 there should be a lot more. I also understand about the rust issues. Mike
The Y-Block were compe***ive in dirt track oval racing, due to the torque out of the turns, so a lot of the 55-59s got beat up on the tracks.
Fairlane 62 has it.. the 57 Chevrolet were like the Ford on dirt tracks but that was it. 58-59 Fords were kings because they had frames and guys understood leaf rear springs and still do. Chevs caught up when the Chevelles hit the tracks.
Ok, thanks for the history lesson. Like I said it was just a thought observation on my part. I am busy trying to get one more 57 back on the road by the spring.
