Just Traded my F-2 For a New kitchen for the Wife.. Anyone do something similar

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 4HawkRod, Oct 1, 2009.

  1. In 1975 I sold a 38 chevy coupe and a 48 buick roadmaster to finance a good down payment on our first house. It was worth it then and still is today. After we bought the house, I just got other projects.

  2. I promised my wife we would go out to eat more....wtf! I will do some cookin for the family......so you don't need a new kitchen....I told her in a few years your kitchen will be a classic....it's an old ass kitchen...it's in great shape...everything works....besides when we go out to eat...we will go in style and get thumbs up etc......Should work for a little while I save up some dough!

  3. almost the same.... had a buddy who had a very complete winchester collection. Sold it to buy their first house (wedding present). 47 years later... same wife, way better house, and very complete winchester collection. He once told me, "the hell with the house or the guns, the wife is the keeper." Guess he figured out the secret.

  5. I sold 3 brit bikes, a nice driver 50 chev pickup and a 62 ragtop sunroof VW to get married, relocate, be "responsible" and start a family..... but I got her sign an agreement on a Hemings add for a XK140 fhc (I was single with expensive taste). 8 years goes by, I didn't get the jag but I bought a couple cool projects. She made me sign the other side of the add "paid in full", I still have it in my wallet. It all worked out.

    NO WAY!
When my live-in GF asked if we could take the GARAGE, and convert it into a sewing room........
I told her, as long as we're doing construction, we might as well blow out the back wall of the downstairs, put in a garage door, and use the entire downstairs as a "car storage"!
She can have the existing garage.
She never mentioned anything like that again!

  9. Traded a '74 Dodge pickup for a concrete driveway about twenty years ago at our old house. Sold a '64 Grand Prix to pay off a bunch of bills in '83. And gave back to the friend who gave it to me a '48 Buick when we moved across the country in '88.

Sold a '33 Pontiac 3w coupe body in '87 to take wife and 2 daughters to Disney World. Would do it all over again. Lots of projects followed, still do. But the memories are worth a lot more than the car.

Is that your wife? She's probably thinking what she could buy if you sold your other cars;)[IMG]

I sold an Ak47, a Steyr m40, a Jackson Randy Rhodes Edition guitar, a Esp guitar, a 73 Gibson Black Beauty guitar and a Ludwig drum set to pay for our wedding.

The bad one was selling a cherry, rust free, late 31 Ford pickup cab and bed, 32 frame and all the "right" suspension parts for a trip to the emergency room. That one pissed me off!!

Instead of eating out she will be fixing good home cooked meals for you . All the while saveing money for the next 4 wheeled project. I like the way you think. If shes a bad cook you could sell the house for a new rod and a shop to live in.LOL

Spent almost ten years collecting parts for my 29 roadster--built it and then sold it to buy another house.Looking back,it was a good deal--got top dollar for the car--got to keep my old condo for a rental--didn't need to do anything to the new house--so I guess everything worked out.But--still miss the roadster--bad part is,I see the guy driving it all the time!

  27. Had to sell all of my hot-rod parts at fire-sale prices because my wife wanted to move and it was just too hard to move it all. I like the new place better, but I do miss dreaming and scheming in the middle of my pile of parts.

In a few years I'd like to start collecting parts for something again.

you traded your vehicle for a kitchen remodel?

why? how is that a trade? sounds like punishment.

and no, I have never done anything like that, and won't ever do anything like that, I have been married for almost 17 years.
