Is it just me but are old car parts all disposable? Was all that glass, trim, interior pieces, rear bumper, trunk lid, doors, taillamps, roof, dash, rear axle, and all including harware all junk?

Personally I save everything if I cant use it I will save it until I find someone who can and if I do I like to trade it for something I could use. That way it's affordable for both partys.

I hate to tell this story because it hurts me. My pontiac has two different style pistons in it flat tops and valve reliefs. A guy in the area has a 57 chieftan that had a running 347 2brl and a manual 3 spd he opt. to camaro clip the car and put a 455 in it. For his sake I hope its a dog smog motor with less horspower than the factory 347. I attempted through 2nd parties to come in contact with him expressing my needs for the engine nothing came until one came through telling me he scrapped the engine and trans.

I have to spell this WHAT THE FUCK!!!!

If you buy a parts car please do me and others less fortunate of cash the respect of at least listing it free parts or sell parts for scrap prices.

I was honestly thinking that 150$ might of been a low ball for that 347 and trans.

My motor runs great but I know it could be better. On top of the piston issue I found the heads are milled to where the intake barely fits and it has non adjustable valvetrain. All things I would like to correct some day but don't want my car down for months with the only motor I have torn all apart.
To all lets spread the word if you can't use it maybe someone else can lets help each other and just because someone can use it doesn't make it worth a million bucks.

    God bless the H.A.M.B. !!!!

  2. Amen! don't throw anything away unless it's totally unusable. It hurt me to throw away a 216 block recently even though it had a crack down the entire length.

I've given stuff away that I had for lots of years just because I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. I've always felt "some where theres some on that needs this" and when I find that person I just give it away.

I saw the episode where the Buick was ripped down for some parts. I did not see the crushing, but might have made a trip to the john. A damn shame if it happened. And, I can easily picture the host, Stacy, laughing like a loon while it happened. Jeez, shop time makes me happy, but not to that extent. I wonder......? NAW!! Not when shooting a tv show.

He is far too happy. I'd like to kick him in the teeth.

I saw that episode and though I'm not a fan of those big cars, that broke even my cold heart. I mean, wtf, the trim looked in good shape and I'm sure some knobs, glass and other stuff would have been useful to somebody.

    What a waste. :(

  11. You have to be a real dumbass as to be so dumb you'd throw things away you may not value, but someone else would. It never ceases to amaze me how there can be shitheads like that who build cars. But I hear from them all the time on eBay telling me I should scrap or throw away the stuff I've saved, stuff you just can't find anywhere at all in a lot of cases, or it might take you years to find the next one.

Yea, seen the show...hope he got a lot of hate mail over that one....

What is even more stupid is there are times when they will do a "build " on a TV show then, after filming is done the car is crushed.
