Rick, everything takes twice as long as you think it will, with the weather warming up and DST in effect I will have more time to work on the car. HRP

  2. The Model B had a centrifugal advanced distributer and no manual timing inside the cab.

I had a re-built model B engine, with a C head, that was sleeved to standard and the crank welded up and turned to standard. Total pro job done. I got it and two model B re-built trannies when I bought my '32 5W. The cost of getting old of speed equipment discouraged me from going that route so I'll be using an 8BA. Sold the engine and two trannies after about two years of trying but made an $800 profit over the cost of the 5W. Kind of wished I kept it but my money tree never grew.

    Visit the monthly banger thread.
    It goes back many years.
The discussion is sometimes not very linear as far as topic/question/answer ,but lots of good stuff.

Also I think the fordbarn gets less traffic than the hamb, but lotsa smart guys there too.
Obviously more original/restoration minded, but less so in the past few years

So when in1932 did they start adding the firewall to block engine steady/damper. Ours does not have one and i see no sign of it ever having one.?
Plus its got the recess where the oil can is for the intended vaccum cluctch that never eventuated, when did this indent stop?

Your firewall appears to be a early one,I don't have my reference material here but I think there were as many as 8 different variations in the overall design of the firewall, probably a result of the different suppliers.

The divot in the firewall was designed for a clutch assist that never made it into production. HRP

Was the damper used on the V8 cars or just the 4?
